For those with Hex Vents...
I have had these hex vents on for a few months, and absolutely love them. I also have the 'water deflection trays. Florida at the moment is constantly rain, Now while the trays do the job, the water will defect on to the block, belts etc, which is of course ok - however I'm pretty anal about water and where I don't want it to go so i thought about ways of taking the water away from the main components.
Home Depot, couple of brass fittings, some vinyl pipe and this should do the job. The brass fittings (pictured) i cut most thread off, leaving about 1/8" just enough to screw into a 1/2" hole i made at the lowest point. I also used epoxy to ensure the brass fitting is solid and doesn't leak. Refitted the trays and ran a length of vinyl tubing to the front of the hood, above the rad, of course i may tinker with this, but seems to be a good place I took a few of the push in fittings out and used a tie wrap through the hood cover to secure the tubing i think $10 in total, plus i have about 8 foot of pipe left!

Smart move....I've been tracking where my water exits and so far ok, but I'll do this..... Steve is working on a quik disconnect splash tray as well. I'm in Florida too and made some plexi drop in covers to keep the tree crap out when blowing out...they work well, weighted them with stick in wheel weights..pics here...

No - they are functional, and i think they look pretty cool . You do cut a hole in the hood and fit these. Primarily heat dissipation. After a run I can see the heat pouring through these things

Mark - Here's another mod I did today. I am having to take off my pans weekly, as where I live, smaller stuff gets by my screen and into the pan. My covers go on at night but I like the pans clean. The problem arises when you take off the pan and put it back. You kinda search for the thread to bolt into the vent and if you miss it, you can screw up the threads. That's long term a bad thing. So after discussing with Steve, I cut the head off a machine screw , and made it into threaded rod which now sticks down...made a slightly larger hole in pan, so it will punch thru and a rubber washer and nut complete the project. Now you never screw up the threads in the vent which is not easily fixable. Studs look like this:
the bolt is at lowes : M4 x 0.7 x 60mm & rubber washers and fender washers nice thumbscrew here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nice idea - like it. I have done that a few times trying to line the threads up!

I Got this idea from a Club member of mine. I dont use the trays, i cut these and use them to close off my vents from the top when i use car washes with the high power sprayers. They work great and keep ALL water out.
