Detailed the baby this weekend
So, I figured since baseball season was over I thought I would give the Camaro a full 2 stage polish, seal, and wax it. of course I had to do a strip wash, and clay it first. I have never clayed before and I thought it would take forever, which it did. But I have to say the car was a swirled out mess and now, it looks AMAZING! The paint doesn't bounce everywhere and scatter to the swirls, there all gone now! I took some pictures of before and after. I was sealing the roof and i couldn't tell where the paint ended and when the glass started. The reflection is amazing! It looks better now than when it rolled off the lot, probably because it had the 1500 dollar dealer installed swirl package. But the photos speak for themselves. Washed and ready for leaf blower. After i dried it I spruced up the interior, vacuumed, cleaned, and floor mat stripes installed! As you can see the paint is dull and it has little specs and swirls all over. It was like this all over the car. Here is after: Obviously there is a HUGE difference. Here are a bunch of pics after I finished polishing and sealing, enjoy!
The products that I used for paint decontamination and my 2 step polishing and sealing. For claying I used the Speedy prep towel fine wash pad and for polishing I used ardex alpa grit compound and their finishing polish with a light carnuba mixed into it. I used the yellow speedy foam compound cutting pad for the alpha grit and the blue polishing pad which later flew across my garage because I used it on too many edges and then used my black harbor freight pad to finish the job which worked fine. I applied the sealant with the speedy foam white finishing pad for that job. Waited 15 minutes after applying buffed off and its curing right now in my garage. But the process that i used was 2 complete passes with each product, I worked each product until it was clear and then I did another pass, thereby doing two passes, then I moved onto the next product repeating the process. Anyways I want to thank everyone on this forum, they have provided me with so much info, this community really is awesome! |

Nice! I got to remove that dealer swirl package, it's not quite my style. I bet when you got through you felt from all that staring and looking for spots.

I swear it's almost like your driving a mirror around! Pay a visit and post on the official Black Camaro thread.
