Difference in these two Superchargers?
Maybe you guys could help me to understand this?
Magnuson Heartbeat 120+ HP $8995.00 ECS1500 200+ HP $5995.00 I know these are two different types (one root? and one centrifugal) of superchargers but is there any kind of reasons why I would pay $3000.00 more for 80 HP less? I would love to hear the pros and cons of these two supercharges. Thanks guys |

Some people like show cars and want a blower that looks cool and shows well under the hood.

The new Maggie is really high at retail. I got my TVS2300 used, that made the decision for me. I prefer driving a roots style around town, as compared to a centrifugal. I'm over 500lb/ft before 2500rpm. If I had to buy new, I would have went AGP turbo or ECS centrifugal for the money.

One is a PD top mount blower and the other is a centri. I say centri (ECS1500 ) for a drag or track car and a PD (heratbeat)for a DD.

A drag car optimally will never be under 3500-4000rpm ever even at launch. Around town a roots will have more torque at lower rpm. Our cars already make good torque so does it really matter that much? I'd say go centri for the higher power limits. I am eyeing the ecs 1500 kit as well. Seems like the best overall price/performance s/c kit available at this time.

It is all opinion. The ECS kit will still spin tires easy. PD blowers just spin them easier at low throttle.

Dang I'm in Cali and can not run the ECS. I bought an Edelbrock new with a great deal on it. I wish I could have got the new Maggie or Whipple but those are $1,500+
Now the Heart Beat is only for corvettes right now right, not out for camaro yet |

ECS kit (SEE BELOW)
Mounts to side of engine like alternator, less prone to engine heat, makes great power/torque and sounds awesome with loud BOV. Best bang for buck! Capable of serious power numbers. Heartbeat Looks like stock engine. Good power and torque down low.

Both blowers are good not only for drag but as a DD. I started with the base ECS kit two years ago, and now I'm using their YSi an shooting for a 1000hp+. Essentially that's the difference between the two blowers. The ECS kit has much more room for expansion than the Maggie. The Maggie puts power to the wheels much faster than the ECS, but the ECS will continue to build boost throughout the entire power band. As for being CA, C.A.R.B legal, check to see if the Vortech V3 is compliant. ECS uses a Paxton 1500 which is the same as a Vortech T-Trim, but the unit is a self-contained oil unit. If you can buy the Vortech system in CA, then the ECS unit is good, plus it'll put out more power. |

Which one would be best for longevity both for the supercharger and the engine?
Also there has to be some cons for both systems? |

Which has a greater effect on intake temperatures, a PD sitting on top of the engine, or the centri that draws its intake air from over the exhaust manifold?

With the massive FMIC that's available on many centri's, heatsoak isn't much of a issue. Certainly not as bad as the PD's.
