It may be as simple as a software reset. I had a late model Silverado where the defroster did not work no matter what position the control was in. I took it to the dealer and they hooked up their laptop to the ALDL connector under the dash and performed a reset of the body control computer. Low and behold the defroster is working again. My vehicle was still under the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty so it didn't cost anything. Your case my be different.

got home after 2 weeks and i tried it and it works now??? wierd

typical intermittent climate controller issues... some last minutes, some longer..
