Why no stripes on roof?

Why doesn't the stripe package include stripes for the roof?

Is this something that the early camaro's had? I can't think of any other cars that i've seen with striped that didn't cover the rouf. It just looks a little off to me. I need an answer!

Thanks guys!

Yes GM heritage does not use roof stripes. I'm not a 100% certain but I'm pretty sure no factory optioned camaro has every had roof stripes. Its a very ford/mustang thing. I don't mind full body stripes if done in good taste but prefer still to be left off roof, thats just my taste.

I can understand it b/c of heritage... But, if they were really going to stick to heritage, they would have done the stripes correctly and gone to the end of the front, right where the mail slot is.

I can't think of any Chevy that has ever had stripes on the roof from the factory.

I agree about at least having the stripes come to the end of the hood and wrap completely over the spoiler, but the top can go without. I did see pics of a guy's car that had the stripes from the bottom of the ground effects and all the way across the top and then down the whole back. looked great

Stripes on the roof makes too much striping, I think the rally stripes on the hood and trunk/spoiler is enough....especially on the yellow...that's my $.02

The only Camaro that came with factory roof stripes was the 1997 white Z28 with the orange vinyl stripes. That was just on the hardtop cars, not the t-top cars. Otherwise, roof stripes have always been a Mustang heritage, not the Camaro's.

Stripes wouldn't look so good on the Camaro's roof with the reverse mohawk thing going on. And I like the stripes ending on the hood- Makes the mail slot stick out more.

Actually, heritage would have the stripes going down into the grille and the rounded portion of the stripes would be by the windshield. Of course, that all depends on the year you're talking about.

Personally, I prefer the factory stripes to the ones that are longer. Also, I don't think that the stripes on the roof work on the 2010 Camaro because of the lines of the car. If it were more of a wedge shape, I could see the stripes continuing because of continuing the plane, but the roof line and general body line on the 2010 are two separate planes.

I really can't recall any of the old GM musclecars running the stripes over the roof. My 70 ss454 chevelle didn't have them and my 69 ss396 camaro didn't either. Baldwin motion ran the stripe over the roof though.
