Just picked up 2012 black ZL1 with a 700 HP lingenfelter kit, Its automatic and only has 5000 miles on it. Question, the rearend clunks when taking off sometimes and moans and groans when backing out of driveway. is there a TSB on this condition? Should this be drained and flushed out?

Sounds like the diff fluid is not compatible with the clutches in the differential and you are getting chatter.
Change the fluid out with the correct stuff, or a compatible fluid and it should go away.

There is a TSB where you do some figure 8's to break in clutches i believe.

See Post #26. I think this is the TSB you're looking for.

Just corrected the moaning and groaning when cold and turning at low speed. I ordered the correct fluid for the dealer (they did not have but one quart in stock) and carried the TSB as reference. I asked them to just change the fluid at my expense since the noise was not too severe. I noticed on the bill that they had added friction modifier. Incorrect, since the LSA gear oil already has the modifier added. Also noted that 1 quart of gear oil was used - it takes just over two. The manager was very apologetic and drained everything a second time and refilled with 2 quarts of the correct fluid. Noise is gone. I had the problem at purchase (7500 miles) and had it corrected at 10K. The clunking noise is noted in one of the TSB's. Hope you have a good relationship with the dealer since the mods voided the warranty in the eyes of many dealerships - good luck and hope you get the issues resolved.

Hi Zee66,

I regret to hear of these concerns you're experiencing with your Camaro. I have taken some time to read over this thread, and I see that you are planning on visiting your dealership this week. If you would like, we would be happy to reach out to Roger Dean Chevrolet to provide an additional layer of assistance while your vehicle is in service. Please send us a private message along with your full contact information, current mileage, and VIN if this is of interest to you.

Sincerely,

Julie C

Made my appointment yesterday at Roger Dean Chevrolet on time, reluctant to leave the car but have in the past with other cars, said they will call me and let me know what they find when it gets in. Shuttle home was great and made a new friend driving me. Eight hours go by and no call, I call my service advisor and he tells me they have not got a chance to get it in and it will be first thing in the morning. Today I call him and he still has no word on the car, he calls me back and says the tech just came back and they are waiting on parts because the noise and clunk in the rear. Feeling relieved that they are repairing this as per TSB, I get a call 45 min later from my advisor and he tells me the TSB is not under warranty and will be charged $622.00 to change the gear lube . Are you kidding me I said the car only has 5000 miles on it and he tells me its only covered under the 3 year 36000 coverage. I told them thats not acceptable! they said sorry and pick up your car. I cant tell you how many Chevrolet products I have owned and never been through something like this.Roger Dean is telling me the claim was denied by Gm and it was not them! REALLY?

Wow. What a joke. Makes you think twice about paying so much for a car like that if GM and their dealerships won't stand behind it.

They have to change it out three times according to the TSB and drive 20 miles in between the changes. The fluid is covered if the rear end fails but not for preventive service, this just doesnt make sense. They would rather replace the rear diff when it fails instead of changing the fluid. How smart is that?
