Car keeps dinging after startup

You know how the car dings a few times when you first start it? Well sometimes mine keeps dinging and the only way to make it stop it to shut the car off, pull the key out of the ignition, and open the driver door and restart the car. Any ideas?

Look down at the DIC while it is dinging. What does it say?

It says absolutely nothing. Just the speedo and odometer

You try resetting by disconnecting the battery? How old is your battery? Charge may be low?

Maybe the door sensor is not seeing that the door is closed sometimes. If it does it again, don't open the door when you turn the car off and crank it back up.

I haven't disconnected the battery and as far as age I got the car used. So I assume it's the original battery?

And I'll try not opening the door next time to see if it could be that. Didn't think of that

Did you check your passenger seatbelt indicator on the roof console? I once had a refilled propane tank in the passenger seat and it dinged every couple of minutes. It drove me crazy all the way home, I didnt see any errors on the DIC. I even stopped and opened and closed the trunk and both doors. Finally when I was home I realized the car wanted me to buckle up the propane tank.

This^^^^

I think every Chevy I've owned since 2010 did this from time to time even with no one or anything in the seat.

It's happened to me a few times, PITA. No rhyme no reason. Had the doors lock on me in my driveway with me nowhere near the key. Possessed b!tch.

I'm having the same thing happen to me lately. I still have the original battery in my 2010 and it seems to be doing fine. Nothing shows up in the DIC, no flashing lights anywhere either. When the chimes won't stop I turn the car off and restart it and it goes away.

Every now and again mine will ding a few more times than normal upon putting my key in the ignition. But nothing on the DIC or visible issues... it is really random idk what it is but I ignore it.

Sorry OP, I have no answer to your question.

Definitely replace the battery if its the original. Mine left me stranded at a gas station.

How? I just didn't start up? I really should replace the battery anyways.

I keep a jumper box in the trunk in the event the battery does go out on me. I didn't have intentions of replacing until it died. But perhaps it may be worth changing out sooner than later.
