Strangely, nobody seems to have been motivated to compile a list. I vote we do some research for at least those posted on this site. There is an existing thread that kind of died off, but we could start there.

Yeah...cause that's our job , just read on another board that someone broke one on the track last night in NC .... I really think it's BS that the only way to find out if our car is affected is to go out and see if it breaks when we launch it ...cause that's where I wanna find out, either the side of the road..or the track. :( BS!

I am sure the reason GM is keeping this hush, hush is not to replace all of them. . . I am sure there will be some owners that will never launch that car hard. . . why would GM replace theirs?
(just trying to think with their mind set)

Only replace the once that break. . . save us thousands of dollars.

I thought I read that owners of affected cars would be contacted by GM by mail. Was there ever an official reason given for the faulty tail shafts?

I never heard of anyone ACTUALLY getting a phone call.

From the numbers posted here, I'm in the middle of the VIN range. I have received no notification, and as such, have not used launch control on my car....nor have I done anything close to a hi-rpm clutch dump.

I'm the type of guy who's not exactly keen on buying a $35K car and intentionally breaking it.

I will say this again, do your first hard launch in the dealers lot, if it breaks, push it into the service area.

This situation is still bugging me.

I saw at least one post of a broken output shaft with no call.

Some info would be super, GM.

My wife works at the company who makes the shafts. Apparently the engineer at GM who sent them the blueprints had some bearing measurements wrong and material issues. That's all I could get her boss to tell me. He did say that the Manual transmissions are the ones causing the most trouble...

Good info.

Ask them if it's fixed, and when, so we know which vins to avoid.
