2014 1Le HID Fog Light Question

I am planning on getting 5500 k HID Fog Lights for my 2014 1LE this Friday. I am also going to get 5500k Headlight Bulbs as well while I am at it.

My question is, will I need to take the front bumper off to be able to install the ballast properly? I have read on here that there is a way to get to the bulbs from the bottom of the bumper, but I was wondering how everyone tackled this installation.

Thank you in advance!

You just need to remove a few bolts and clips for the fender liner to access the fog light bulb area, no need to remove the bumper.

If you go under the car and look, directly under the "fog lights" there is an area of the fender liner that is held up by 3 hex screws. Remove those 3 and you can gain access to the light housing. The same with the other side. The picture is of a 2014 Z28 but it is very similar to where the screws are.

So I should just be able to mount the ballast going through the fender liner area then? And also, is it preferred to jack the front of the car up when accessing the fender liner area or is it not necessary?

Thanks again.

Thanks Stewart, that is actually perfect! Do you happen to know the size of the hex off the top of your head? You posted right as I was posting a question to the other member. That looks like I should have more than enough room if I put the front of the car on jack stands to find a place to mount the ballast.

Yea I guess that was a pretty stupid question now that I look back at it. Thanks for all the help. The difference between the headlights and fog lights bothers me way too much.

Those fog lights look great. I had thought about going the yellow fog route since I had them on a few of my other cars, but I figured I would switch it up and match my headlights this time around.

Looks amazing on a yellow car though!

Thank you. I saw them on a yellow Camaro driving south on 287 while I was going north, I liked them and ordered some. The first set (LED) I ordered were to whitish yellow and interfered with my radio reception. The second pair (HIDs) were again too whitish yellow. The 3rd pair was just right in color but not as bright as I would like them to be. I ordered another set of LED's which are 100 watts have not received them yet, I am expecting them on the 14th of June as they are on a slow boat from China.

It will be easier to remove the fender liner front portion with the car jacked up and the wheels off. You should be able to mount the ballast on the bumper inside directly with some vhb tape or zip ties.

Stewart let us know what you think of the brighter ones when you get them. I like the look of the ones you posted a picture of in you other thread.

I finally received the led's. Installed one of them to compare. Well the one's that I had been waiting for are a bit brighter how ever they are a whitish Yellow. Not what I was looking for nor what was pictured on the Ebay posting. So if any one wants them see this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=498237
