looking at 2013 Vert
OK I am looking at a 2013 Vert and from the pics the back window isn't there? are these removable? is back window glass or plastic- I'll assume glass, any idea of cost of replacement? I don't want to jump on this if glass is 2G or something crazy. I've had 1969 verts before and they were sewn in and i know some have a zipper and can be taken out? anyone have some info on this please feel free to post up - car is at an auction, non running and is stripped no engine trans, tires/wheels, seats or hood (it is a zl1)
any info appreciated

All 5th gen tops are one piece and the back glass is not removable so sounds like it would need a whole new top. Never priced the top on these but I did see a post someone asking about a top and as I recall it was around 800 from GM not installed of coarse! Regardless of the top this sounds like a real project car!

Yep, the top needs replacing. You better get this ride for a song. This is the first I've heard of back window fall out, on Camaro 5th Gen. If the miles are low & car looks great, you could get the top replaced. GM parts has them on special now, in black, blue and tan, There is varied success on top replace at GM Chevy. Good luck on your decision.

Not sure on installation costs, but the tops are low 700s. If I took a guess I'd say 900 to 1100 on install. That's why I said you better get a price that's low considering the repair issue.

The labor on installing the new top is nearly as expensive as the top and parts itself. I have seen clean used salvage tops on ebay with frame and all for a couple hundred bucks. There are a couple of salvage yards that specialize in late model cars and one that specializes in Camaros and Firebirds.

If you are handy you may be able to do the top yourself and save the labor cost. I had never replaced a convertible top prior but replaced the top on my 4th gen T/A twice in 15 yrs. Id say the 4th gen would be harder since those tops were a two piece design so getting everything to line up is harder than a one piece top. I read about it, watched videos, and paid attention when I disassembled the factory top was all helpful.

thanks all, I want to go into this knowing what to expect, Its up this Friday and isn't my first pick there's a stripped '15 that I'd prefer- clean title, no missing body parts (vert is missing rear bumper cover and hood) both engine trans, seats wheels gone and its newer but either will get my car going - my 13 was bought wrecked but still runs and drives but frame bent up front and a re-body seems to be best option
