Wanted: DIY for Sanding and Painting/Wrapping Interior Panels
I've got the bumpy old plastic gray door panels, wanted to buy the set of door/dash panels in red but they're a little pricey for me. Was wondering if anybody has tried painting or vinyl wrapping the interior panels. Just not sure how I could get the plastic smooth enough to paint or wrap.

I found a set of painted door panels but painted the dash pieces. It took some time. A lot of sanding and priming to get the desired look. I also have a set that's wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl I plan to sell

That looks nice! I've wanted to do either black or red CF. Did you have to sand and prime just for paint, or did you do the same prep for the vinyl CF?

Yes after I pulled the cloth off I cleaned it carefully with lacquer thinner then sanded the snot out of it. Followed that with a rattle can sealer primer then followed that with a sanding primer. I had to sand and reprime a lot to get it smoothed out. I then bought base/clear in rattle cans because regular single stage Duplicolor stuff won't hold up very well. Plus with base/clear you can get the exact color you want. I reverse painted that Camaro emblem on the trim then multiple coats of clear with wet sanding in-between coats so as not to have any lip and to keep it super smooth
