Emergency... trunk issue :(

Was doing header work and disconnected the negative terminal. Left the spare tire at a 45 degree angle and i have a huge sub enclosure behind it. Brother closed the trunk accidently and now I can't open the trunk or better yet start my car.... any tips? Will jumper cables in the engine terminals allow me to pop the trunk?

Yes. No problem. You can even use a battery charger.

Are you bigger than your brother?

Better off with the soft charge. Won't ruin you battery like jumpers.

The smart ones today know how much and when to charge.

Pull the back (vertical part) of the rear seat down, crawl into the trunk and pull the T shaped handle to release it manually. Find someone small and give them a flashlight.

Since the negative terminal is off the battery, hooking jumper cables up won't allow you to open the trunk. The whole system is ungrounded.

If you do or if you don't have a battery in the trunk when you connect jumper cables you have a hot and a ground.
You don't need to crawl into the trunk.

There is a terminal covered with a red plastic and an uncovered terminal on the left side of the engine bay. The one with the cover is the positive, with a Plus sign on it, the uncovered one by the air cleaner is the negative (ground).

The Camaro Engineers planned for just such an emergency and provided a manual trunk lid release on the underside of the lid partly for that reason.
Just work the handle loose and let the cable hang down, then once the handle is free from the lid, pull down.

Im assuming you can't crawl into the trunk through the back seat due to way you left the spare tire ? Either way all you have to do is use jumper cables through the terminals under the hood to have power and just use the button to open the trunk, you dont have to start the car like that just to open the trunk

I am not sure if coupes have the same as convertibles but in mine there is a key cylinder in the back seat on the drivers side. You put the ignition key in it and turn to the left to open trunk.
Hope this helps.

The entire back seat comes out in 5 minutes. Lots of room to do what you need.

Sub enclosure covers entire trunk so I can't just climb into the trunk. Plus in the OP the spare tire was blocking me from manuvering the subwoofer. Jumper cables worked. Thanks guys.

The car was not grounded right up until he put the jumper cables on the negative terminal... this grounded the car through the cable to the other vehicle's ground.

I would not suggest trying to start a car like this, but it will hold enough current to pop the trunk.
