Unexpected 2SS test drive, true story - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I was visiting my aunt and uncle last weekend and mentioned that the wife and I had recently sold the trusty '07 Accord and were in the market for a new car. At that point, my aunt replies "Your uncle bought one of those new Camaro's and he just loves it!! Of course I was asking 10000 questions as far as "Is it an SS, auto or manual, etc".
She calls my uncle (who wasn't there) and secures permisson to drive his car a little. We go to the garage and the door opens to reveal this IOM L99 2SS/RS with painted ground effects and black stripes. I have had a hard time getting a test drive in a Camaro (I am seriously in the market, just waiting for the prices to cool a little) so this was the first time I have been able to even ride in one, much less drive it!
This car could have been far "less nice" than it was, and I would still want one. I was expecting a much harsher ride, and much more road noise from this car than I experienced. The performance speaks for itself and did not dissapoint me, even though I did not run this car nearly as hard as I would my own. I feel as if anyone who is accustomed to higher end imports will be satisfied with the quality of this car, and to be honest with you quality has been my only potential reservation when it comes to purchasing an american car.
I truly hope the Camaro is a major step in the recovery of GM and my test drive has only increased my hunger to buy this car. Just wanted to rant and congratulate all of you on your wonderful cars, and hope to be showing you pictures of my Black on Black 2SS/RS 6M here in the next couple of months!!

Cool. Mine's black on black with CGM rally stripes. See my garage. You'll love the black if you don't mind washing it a couple times or more a week

Just patiently waiting until I can get a deal on one. I have had to be one of the first ones to have a new model in the past, and have regretted it later. Not to knock all you guys who paid over MSRP, etc because I would have too if I could afford it. Turns out the car here was an early car and he had to pay the price, but I don't blame him one bit.
I was showing them the "chicklets", and the lack of sensors in the rear bumper and explaining to them that they would always be able to say, and prove that theirs was one of the earliest cars. I have since posted this picture as my profile pic on Facebook and had LOTS of comments on how much everyone likes this car. My point is that this car is going to be popular with the non-enthusiast as well as the enthusiast and I hope that proves to the american car companies that this is what was, is , and always will be a niche they can count on dominating...
