Should I upgrade to a Z/28??
Currently have a 2014 1LE in crystal red. 1 of 92 built with this color in the USA. Occasionally a Z/28 will pop up around here for sale but I'm not into any of the 5 colors except for red. Well, now a red one popped up. It's a no a/c car and has 4000 miles on it. Price is $47k. I have no issues with my 1LE, I've just always wanted a Z/28. I love their exclusivity, and bad ass looks. I jumped on eBay and took a look and it seems the price is right in line. Judging by the 2014 Z/28 production numbers it seems that non-a/c cars are much rarer than cars with a/c. But that means there is no radio? Can someone clarify this? Would you guys take the plunge or would you wait to see what is on the horizon for a 6th gen Z/28?

No aircon is the purist's choice. Lighter and less parasitic power loss from the engine!
if you can get them down to around 45k then go for it, you won't regret it!

Keep looking and I think you will eventually find Red with ac for sale, maybe a little cheaper. IF they never make anymore Z/28's these prices will without a doubt rise.

That price is a little stiff, but, red/grey/silver are usually a few ticks up in price from black/white. So quick research on the internet shows this price being about right.

Years down the road the a/c won't work any ways. Non a/c cars have less to worry about.

Update!
The car is in fact an A/C car with radio, even though the website says otherwise. It is just about perfect, except they took off the Trofeo's and put on Bridgestone Potenza's. We are currently stuck on a price, lol. Isn't that how it always goes? He said he'd give me $23000 for my car. Yeah, no thanks. It's literally mint and has 6200 miles. They showed me the carfax, and I found out they've had the car since January 9th. Looks like it will sit for a little while longer. They tried telling me a bunch of guys are looking at it (I ain't buying that line). I told them nobody is going to walk into a dealer and pay $47k for a 5th gen, with 1 year of warranty left, when you guys have 2018 SS's here for $40k and full factory warranties. We're not far off on price, around $3500 or so. I'm sure my phone will be ringing by the end of the week. How do you guys know the build number of your Z's? Is there a plate somewhere or is it on the window sticker?

Have you tried going to CarMax or KBB.com to sell your car? You may be able to make up the difference by selling yours...

All Z/28s have a sequential build number. 1-440, and 1-1288 for '14s and '15s respectivly.
Have you been able to take a trst drive in the car yet? I personally bought mine without having seen a Z/28 in the flesh, flew to TX, and drove it to Jersey. Best road trip ever. Depending on how youll drive the Z/28, you may find those new tires a good upgrade to an already amazing car. I see that you've taken your 1LE to the strip. Though these Z/28s can get down a 1/4 mile, the rears are not built to take hard launches. Im guilty of taking mine down Atco, and clicked off a best of 12.5, but thats as good as it gets in my book. I wont be running it on a track unless its a road course. How ever it works out, be sure to post pics of your new Z/28!

Ah, I didn't know about the VIN, I'll have to check it.
Edit: Looks like one of the last ones built. VIN ends in 1255. No test drives, it's in the 30's here. They won't let anyone take it out, it's blocked inside the showroom. Has a new Hot Wheels edition SS right behind it, that looks really good I might add. This is the frustrating part. I know 10x more about the car then they do, and they try to tell me things that add value (but really don't). They told me they put 4 brand new tires on it. I said "yep, you took off the sweet Trofeo R's that are $500 each and swapped to Potenza's that are $300 each lol". Oh well, it's a waiting game now. I do appreciate everyone's input!
