NGK TR6IX Plugs
Last year, after I purchased the car, I changed the plugs and wires to the stock AC Delco. Now that I have headers and HFCs added to the car and the car is tuned, I am being told by the tuner I should change them to the NGK TR6IX Plugs. I have a bit of a rough idle and the RPMs will bounce at idle and if you are revving and trying to hold a steady RPM. Will these plugs fix these two issues or is there something else going on that I should look at?

Ussually, NGK TR6IX are used in boosted applications up to about 10 lbs. I used NGK TR5IX when I was cammed only with LT's and they worked great.

That is something I had read when researching. It doesn't seem to have an issue running down the road and there are no codes. It has a rough idle and if you rev her up the RPMs bounce more than at idle. It didn't figure plugs would fix that as most seem to recommend the stock AC Delco ones anyway. I was also told by the tuner to gap the plugs at 35 instead of 40 like the manual says. If not the plugs causing the rough idle and bouncing RPMs what else could it be?

Plug wires all good and covered by socks on top of that.

I don't have any of the issues you speak about but I do run these plugs, per my tuner's recommendation, without issue. I believe he had me gap them at .032.

Depends how rough of a idle we are talking about here. Camaros don’t have a smooth idle from the factory since it’s actually a decent cam when you buy the car. A slight very slight choppy idle seems normal

Changing plugs will not make a huge difference unless yours are completely toast. Can you upload your tune file so we can look it over? Did you get your car tuned on fresh plugs? Was the car doing this right after the tune? May just be an idle/tuning issue.

Its rougher now with the current tune than before I added the LTH and got the new tune. Yes right after the tune it started idling rough. It was almost perfectly smooth prior. Now before I got this tune, it wouldnt hold 2K and 3K RPMS if you revved it and tried to hold it there. It would fluctuate about 60RPM. You could hear it as it did so also. It still fluctuates also.
The tuner wanted me to gap those plugs at 32 also. Said it would preform better than the AC Delco. If I upload the file I was sent, there is a way to look at it? Also, I added an image of the gages off the SCT. The lowest I seen it hit at idle is 509. Seems a bit low to me but it would bounce around about 40 or so RPM. If you guys see anything else off on there let me know. Sorry it is sideways, not sure why it turned it. At least from looking at this, I know my MAF looks good lol.

I found more gauges to play with. Do these all look normal also? The Spark Adv seemed to jump from 8 to 15 and the short and long trims didnt move by much while idling.

I would suggest you leave the gap or the iridium plugs alone as they come from the factory...you never gap them they are brittle iridium wire....And the different heat range should be fine, I use Tr6IX but and cammed, some would use 55s some would use copper and change them all the time, but 7's are for Forced induction BTW.... some fluctuation of things occurs but if as it appears your using a canned tune..... well you should check things that would make it fluctuate ,,,like dirty loose maf, TB, intake Tube.... Cracked plug, etc.... But I would suggest at idle it natural cam lope, revved....its not and your tune is most likely not so good..I use a dyno but then again I am built and tuned on the dyno and I idle at 950..... and it should not jump timing advance so much...wonder how your cam.crank sensors doing with its position, wonder if you've got a loose wiring harness etc..... Good luck
