Rear End Gear Question
Richmond Gear says late January they will have gears out for the new Camaro..I was wondering if swapping them out would screw up the calibration with the speedometer or what not, that would need to be addressed..any thoughts? Who makes the best gears out there? Should I wait for A Genuine GM part?? or can someone explain why I should leave the stock gears in...I personally think 3.73's should be in the car but

Only one I know of so far http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56698
Way overpriced! Maybe Richmond gear will price them affordable. Mike

Yes, changing the gear ratio wiil affect the speedo. The programmers from Hypertech, Diablo, etc. do have a function to correct for whatever you install. As for who makes the best, ask 10 people and you will get 10 different answers!

Changing Tire Heights will affect your speedo calibration. For Automatic guys Gear changes will affect Shift points though and custom calibration of the shift points will be necessary to prevent over rev during shifts. Ted.

Lingenfelter has 3.70 only gears for now. Will be interesting to see if Richmond Gear will offer other ratios as well as 3.70's which might cut some costs of the gears. However, you still have to have them installed etc.

Ring and pinions retail for other vehicles at about $200 to $300. $500 is stupid. |

yes it is pricey but this is a new car and a rear diff that isnt shared with any other cars, also this group buy makes the price way better than the lingenfelter gear sets that are selling for $800
we should be glad to even have an option,, look at the gto guys, they never came out with any gears for them here in the us and to import a set from the 1 company in austraila would cost over $1100 just for a ring and pinion and how many sets are they really going to sell,, this isnt a gm 8.5" that came in all gm 1/2 ton trucks from the 70's all the way to 2010 and most older gm full size cars, or a ford 9" that every one uses for their streep/ drag cars
