a few camaro issues- normal? or problems?
I have a 2SS 6 spd, and I just wanted to see if some of these issues are normal or if I need to get them checked out:
- Gurgling sound coming from passenger side near engine wall when driving only. thought is it has something to do with the heater core. normal? or should I have it checked out? - 3rd gear has a very distinct double pop/seems pretty heavy. My 3kgt did this, and I was told it had to do with my syncros, but that it was a known issue with the 3ks. Does anyone else's 3rd hear feel a lot heavier / less smooth than the others? It also seems to be getting "worse", but I've never heard of a syncro problem on a car when it only had a few hundred miles on it!!! (up to 1400 now) - One or two of the rear speakers seems to bottom out disturbingly quick, with the volume at a reasonable level. Is this just a characteristic of the BA system? any takes? |

Your first issue has a TSB issued for it. That means you can take it to your dealer and have it fixed. That affected a certain range of cars (mine's in that range as well)
Not sure about the other issues. Hopefully others can help you there!

gm's been gurgling for a long time. Their idea is to install a baffle in the heater hose to break up coolant flow that causes the noise.
3rd gear synchros are defective. Both rear speakers should work the same. |

My LS3 made the gurgling rice crispies sound and was produced in mid November. I just had the TSB completed and the sound is gone.

They sell like 90% Silverados, I dont think they've moved or had an allocation of many Camaros. I will try but I'm guessing they wont know what i'm talking about.

Regarding your 2nd issue: - 3rd gear has a very distinct double pop/seems pretty heavy...... I have that problem too. Kind of like the transmission is "biting" or "grabbing" too hard when you push it into 3rd. Occasionally, I also get the metal "clank" sound to go with it. No idea if that's normal, but the dealership dismissed my concern as they couldn't recreate it. They suggested I put some miles on the car (only had 1K) and come back if it gets worse.

#09-01-37-001B: Gurgle or Rattle Type Noise Coming from Instrument Panel (IP)/Heater Core/Transmission Area (Perform Repair as Outlined) - (Mar 16, 2010)
Subject: Gurgle or Rattle Type Noise Coming from Instrument Panel (IP)/Heater Core/Transmission Area (Perform Repair as Outlined) Models: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Equipped with V8 Engine (RPOs LS3, L99) Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint A9188486 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This bulletin is being revised to add a VIN breakpoint. Please discard Corporate Bulletin 09-01-37-001A (Section 01 - HVAC). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition Some customers may comment on a gurgle or rattle type noise coming from the instrument panel (IP), heater core or transmission area. Cause Coolant flow within the heater core may be causing this noise. Correction Install a one-way flow valve, GM P/N 10188036, into the inlet heater hose using the following procedure. •Drain the coolant. Refer to the Cooling System Draining and Filling procedure in SI. •Remove the engine cover. •Reposition the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly clamps using J 38185 pliers. •Disconnect the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly quick connect fittings. •Remove the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly. •Cut the rubber sleeve that wraps around the inlet and outlet heater hose assembly. •Centrally locate the valve in straight section of the inlet heater hose and mark the hose section to be removed. •Cut out the marked hose section and slide the two clamps, GM P/N 01470030, onto the hose ends. •Orientate the valve with the arrow stamped on the valve pointing upward towards the quick connect fitting end and install the valve. Secure using the clamps. Position the clamps so the housing and strap DO NOT contact the other hose. Tighten Tighten the clamps to 3 N·m (26 lb in). •Secure the valve to the outlet hose using two plastic tie straps, GM P/N 12337820 or equivalent. DO NOT overtighten the tie straps. Crushing the heater outlet hose will restrict coolant flow. •Install the heater inlet and outlet front hose assembly. Connect the quick connect fittings and position the clamps away from the engine harness using J 38185 pliers. •Refill the coolant. Refer to the Cooling System Draining and Filling procedure in SI. •Install the engine cover.
