2011 SS RS Headlight Fix
I have a 2011 SS RS that has a headlight that is giving me some problems. The headlight is aimed too high. I tried to adjust it and it appears that the adjustment screw isn't working. The light also jiggles a bit when you hit bumps in the road. You can see a little movement at night.
Has anyone tried a repair to these lights or is a replacement in order? It appears that there are not many replacement options for camaros that came with the RS lighting package. Most reasonably priced options are for non-RS camaros. I appreciate any insight you have to offer. Thanks! |

It's quite possible the adjustment screw was backed off too much, and it's no longer catching on the mechanism. You'll probably need to pull the headlight out. Good news is it should be a $0 fix.

Thanks. I wrestled a bit with it last night and attempted to get the adjustment working. I opened up the back of the light (where you replace the light bulb) and pulled on the projector and got it a bit lower while working the adjustment screws. Things are still a bit loose in there. The light bounces a bit when driving.
Is there a trick to getting things tightened up? I can't feel where the connections are. It sure is tight in there. Thanks again. |

TYC does make replacements, FYI. I have them in my 2010. The quality is definitely not OEM if you are anal about that but the light output is very good. I had to replace mine because they were absurdly dim. Apparently the reflector coating inside the headlight flakes off over time and it seems to be a common problem with these lights.

Is the high-beam door inside the headlight assembly stuck? I use my high-beams very rarely and sometimes the door inside my passenger side headlight gets stuck. This makes the headlight look out of alignment.

Ok. This may be a crazy ask. How do you find the high beam door?

With the car off you should be able to hear them. If you get up by the affected headlight and have someone push forward on the high beam/signal lever and then let go, you should hear the shutter open and close. They are fairly loud with the engine off.
