Hello guys! I need some advice with my power numbers.
My 2010 N/A Camaro SS has a TSP 416 stroker kit with a stage 3 TSP cam, air is coming thru a Rotofab cai to 102 tb to a Fast LXS R 102 intake, stock heads with some work on, about 10.9/1 compression. I bought it already modded this way, I was expecting at least about 500 rwhp and 500ft lb. But I put it on a dyno (famous for not showing imaginary hp ) some days ago and numbers were quite disappointing, it made 440hp to the wheels and 455ft lb. I also think the curve was kinda ugly, with the torque dropping substantially after 4500 rpm. (I'll leave a pic at the end of the post)I think a need a better tune, new parts, what do you guys think? I'll put some mod list down below, if anyone can please help me figure it out, or accept it as ok for numbers and power curve with these mods. 416 Stroker kit Texas Speed Forged 4340 Crankshaft, 6-Bolt Flange (25-4002100NR) TSP 6.125" H-Beam w/ ARP L19 Bolts, .927" Pin (25-TSP6125SHB-8) Carrillo Pistons 4.07" -3cc Flat-Top (425-CP-407400-3cc) Balance Rotating Assy 58x Upgraded .230" Wall*Pins*for*CP Cam kit TSP Stage 3 N/A LS3 231/246, .640/.615, 111 LSA Camshaft (25-TSP231246-111) 7.400" (25-7400-1) TSP .660" Dual Spring Kit w/ Integrated One-Piece Seat & Seal, Titanium Retainers, PAC Springs (199-ISSPACPOL660SpringKit) Rollmaster 3-Bolt 4x Double-Row Timing Set (11-CS1195) & ARP Bolt Kit (46-134-1003) Melling High Volume Oil Pump (122-MEL10296) Include Crank Bolt/Gasket Kit w/ ARP Bolt (28-CamGskKitARP) TSP Pushrod Checker*(25-PRChecker) Other mods: Fuel pump is the ZL1 one ID1050-XDS injectors TSP LS7 lifters ARPs studs and botls all over MSD spark plugs cable NGK iridium spark plugs 1 7/8 to 3" long tube headers no cats, to a 2.5" exhaust with custom mufflers (probably losing a bit of power here?) [please disreagard info considered useless, I'm far from an expert ]Here is the dyno pull pic [torque is measured in kgf instead of ft lb]:

I see no reason based on your build you should not be making more power. 500whp is very reasonable number for that.

Yes sir, agreed here. I'm NA'd, big cam as you except with a 112 LSA and am making 486rwhp, so yeah you shoild be upwards of 500..

Don't know what dyno that is but yes that is Low. Hard to tell but it looks to me just looking at that your upper rpm might not be pulling up top correctly.
I have 459rwhp and 430tq with a tiny cam. Your torque numbers aren't bad and are higher which is expected for a 416 but those hp numbers are low.2 inch headers and 3 inch exhaust will help especially on a 416 but it isn't going to give you huge numbers you are looking for. I suspect something in tune up top like you said. Also I don't know what dyno software that is. There are so many types across the world and dyno software is known for being 10-20% different depending on the software. Either way I would say numbers should be low 500s in rwhp and torque maybe a little higher. |

Whenever I have seen dynos for 416 strokers compared to stock 376 ls3 cubes and I have seen a lot is that if you use even similar size cams and everything else and only increase cubes through mainly stroke is that the rpm peak will drop slightly but the whole power curve fattens up with torque but usually a 416 will only pick up 20-30hp over a stock cube ls3 is what I have seen if the cam heads and intake don't flow more but you have what looks like ported heads and a fast intake. You definitely have the intake side of the motor and a friend ran a stoker ls2 in his gto (think it was like 408 cubes) and I can tell you your cam is on the smaller side duration wise for a 416 for all out performance but I would assume that cam would be fine on the street. Definitely get another tuner to look at it. It should be making more power with what you got imo.

At the very least I would expect your motor to make 505-520 rwhp on the same dyno as jewld and another 40tq then him probably. He has almost the same cam as you but his intake is different but still. Same dyno similar Temps I would expect you to make 20-30 more hp then him and a lot more low and mid range torque.

Is this an auto tranny or manual car, also are your exhaust 2.5 inch from the headers all the way back or 2.5 inch from the back axle back? If you are 2.5 inch from the headers back that is some hp left on the table there and of course a manual will show more hp on the dyno, also as SS Camaro- Monte mentioned especially in naturally aspirated form a 416 seem to really gain more torque than horsepower and last every dyno is different, also when it comes to dyno's many give you the correction factor in STD instead of SAE, STD always give higher power numbers than SAE but personally I like the truth that SAE correction factor give.

Shouldn't the hp and tq numbers be crossing at 5250?

Good spotting that cc. Yes his dyno graph makes no sense for his motor imo. I have a stock cube ls3 with a 216 228 118 duration cam and my torque peaks at 4700 and peak horsepower is from 5700-6600 and his torque just drops off the roof drastically it seems to me.
Like I said something is wrong up top. Even if the exhaust is choking it and let's be very giving and give him another 30rwhp and he still is low. I am thinking the tune is lacking or it is very possible the software system is so very different from what we are used to seeing that it doesn't read as well as do or not as accurate as we are in places like us, Canada and Australia. All of those countries have well established dyno software for American v8s. Not sure about Brazil but there must be some type of high end tuning company that knows what they are doing otherwise have one of the tuners mentioned look over your tune. |

As CamaroCracka mentioned ,Torque and hp should always cross at or very close to 5250. Did the builder degree the cam in,because it looks like the cam timing is off. Also I'm not knocking the rollermaster timing set ,but when I built my engine I too installed a double row rollermaster set ,and when I was degreeing in my cam, I found that as I rotated the crank the timing chain would get very tight then very sloppy as I continued to turn .
I ended up sending it back an went with a single row c5-r chain on new factory sprockets. Look at my specs I'm running 1 3/4 " lt's stock intake,tb,injectors and heads with exception to springs and ret. On a Dyno Jet 515rwhp, 500rwtq! Both cross at 5250 , 500-500. I'm running aTr6060 ,don't know if you're auto or not but even if you are something isn't right and I believe it's gonna be either the cam,or cam timing due to mis indexed sprocket etc.

Horsepower = (Torque x RPM) / 5252
This is why they're supposed to cross at 5252 in case anyone was wondering. CamaroCracka is right. Last edited by FasNuf; 02-27-2025 at 08:18 AM. |

Likely 1 tooth advanced. Are you getting any codes for Cam Crank correlation? Ask your tuner if he shut that code off.?
