Charging system question
I have a 2014 1LT V6 LFX engine with 155,000 miles. I'm the original owner, so I know the complete history of the vehicle. I've performed all the scheduled maintenance on time. The only repair I've had to make was a battery and alternator replacement back in February of this year. Since doing so, the voltage shown in the DIC stays at or above 14.5 volts. I've read the Charging System Description and Operation posted by NFERNOSS back in 2012. Here's the link
https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...28&postcount=7 What I'm concerned about is this excerpt from it. "Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 amperes and greater than −8 amperes, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80 percent. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present." This morning, I took a 2 hour drive to see if the voltage would drop. It didn't. It stayed above 14.5v the entire time. Occasionally exceeding 15 volts. So, my question is, "Should I be concerned that it's not entering Fuel Economy Mode?" |

Are you getting any codes during all this? Otherwise, your BCM might be suspect.
Did you note the voltage with engine off, key in "run" position?

Voltage with key set in run, engine off, 12.6 When I started it, the voltage went to 13.2, then climbed to 14.5 after running for about 30 seconds. |
