2013 LFX - MBRP Muffler Delete, what else?
Hey all, recently installed the MBRP Muffler Delete on my Camaro. Not that I was expecting much out of it but it sounds a little silly/obnoxious, kinda ricey, but I was wondering what else I should be doing to it? Read through a couple threads on Reddit and the only thing I found was to put a MagnaFlow X-Pipe in place of the stock H-Pipe, already got that in my shopping list. Just wanna know any other possible mods that might help improve the sound, my pops (he owns a hotrod shop) suggested a cold air filter before anything.
Also another thing I was considering was downpipes, but last I checked that costs 1 grand... |

I have a 2013 as well and have been exploring options. Mine already has a K&N CAI, and it does give it a nice growl when you get on the pedal or downshift at lower speeds.
On the exhaust side, I have not yet heard anything that I would be willing to spend much money on. All of the exhaust systems seem to be too high pitch. If I am getting the correct info, the factory V6 exhaust is 2.5" to the H-pipe, then 2.25" from there back with 3.5" tips. The V8 SS uses a larger 2.5" pipe back to the mufflers. In theory, a larger diameter pipe should lower the tone of the exhaust a little vs stock. The SS exhaust systems are cheap to buy as most people remove them and replace with something louder. I realize the downpipes are slightly different and it would require a little plumbing there but I think it might be interesting to try and would love to know if anyone has tried a factory ss exhaust on a v6 and what the result was. |

I did something similar at first and had the same silly ricey sound.
I went with some Hi flow cats, since we can't do headers on the lfx. Straight Stainless pipes without crossovers to the rear, where there's Borla touring mufflers. Seems like you're looking for loud. I'd recommend doing the Hi flow cats, and putting in and in-line baffles. The baffles would act kind of like a resonance chamber without cutting out too much sound. Bigcitythunder.com makes 2 1/8 ones, and freddomperformexhaust makes 2.5 inch ones. You could slide into the pipes to cut down the rice. Here's what mine ended up sounding like... https://youtu.be/CNgaSJQ9br8?si=D1gxqBzqdcwlQyzh |

Some added the resonated crossover pipe and said the sound was incredibly better.

Quick thread revival- I've been puttin some more thought into this. Figured I'd like to try and do somethin somewhat custom, but what I'm thinking is replacing the h-pipe with an x-pipe, stick a Black Widow Venom 250 muffler behind that and then a couple Kooks mufflers in the back. Too much? Not enough?
