Hey guys, new here and I need some help
I've been following the posts on this site for quite a while, never saw the need to join before because 1) I don't have a Camaro and 2) Any and all questions that I've had I've been able to find the answer to.
Now I'm probably going to cause a lot of trouble hear, but I need help deciding on whether to get the 2010 Camaro LS or the 2011 Mustang V6. Now before everybody starts a flame war hear me out. I love and hate things about both cars, and in my opinion a true car guy appreciates a fine automobile regardless of who made it. That said I'm equally fond of the way both cars look. The Mustang isn't too big, just the right size. And the Camaro is definitely one hot car. Since both cars are the lowest base models available they're basically the same price. Both sit at a respectable $22,xxx. Both get amazing gas mileage with the Mustang getting about 1 or 2 MPG's better than the Camaro. The base Mustang comes with, what appears, to be some sort of rim, while the Camaro gets those steel wheels. Not saying I don't like them, but honestly I think GM should have made something a little more appealing. They just look way out of place on the Camaro. Both cars are relatively the same as far as power goes, but the Mustang is lighter. GM also offers the 100,000 mile warranty while Ford only has a 36,000 mile warranty. I love the Camaro's interior, for it's looks and it's retro feel. But I'm more partial to the Mustang's interior cause it does have some retro feel, but while still staying modern looking. The quality of parts in the interior IMO is better in the Mustang. Both are great cars and this is the exact reason I can't decide on which one I'd rather have. I know the Camaro is far more sexier than any Mustang, but I'm not sure I'd want all that attention. People's Camaro's get egged, and dinged, and scratched every time they go out it seems. Mustang is old news and won't attract nearly as much attention. Quite honestly if I was the type to vandalize nice cars, I wouldn't give the Mustang a second look. Now for some more off topic opinion based comments. My family has always owned GM cars. And I've always been impressed with them. But while GM took money from the government, Ford took none. The Mustang was the first "Pony car" and the Camaro came shortly afterwards. While both Dodge and GM dropped the Challenger, Charger, Camaro, GTO, Barracuda, etc. Ford was the only company to keep the Mustang in production. For me that says a lot about a companies commitment to their car. And for a car that's been consistently underpowered compared to the others, the Mustang has always managed to really stir up some conflict among the pony car wars since it first started production. It always seems that Ford manages to do more with less. They build smaller engines because that's what they want, not because they can't. Those are just observations that I've made about each company, I don't want to start any arguments or fights with anybody. And before anyone says I'm just partial to Ford...no not really. We have a Camaro here at the house, an SS at that and have always owned GM cars. I just want to get the MOST out of my money. Since both are priced the same I want to get whichever will offer me more. So have at it guys and tell me which one you would pick and why if you were in my shoes. Don't pick the Camaro just because you have one. Weigh the options and tell me honestly which you would choose and why. Thanks in advance guys |

Don't get bogged down with numbers and dollars.
Drive both cars and buy the one that puts a bigger smile on your face. |

Similar price, similar features, similar power, MUCH better warranty with the Camaro... seems like a pretty easy choice to me.

Agreed from above. Go test drive all the cars you are interested in. I was interested in the Big Three, Mustang, Camaro, Challenger. But in the end, regardless of how they drove and pricing, the LOOK of the Camaro was the winner. And obviously since I own one now.. I am biased as well. I'd say go with the Camaro LS, the mods you can do to it, would make that car that much cooler. (not saying the mustang wouldnt... but like i said, Biased) =D
Goodluck though! btw, my brother wants to buy a 2011 Mustang, just to compete with me lol... it will be fun.

kind of funny this guy doesn't want us to give an answer based on the car we already have. but weigh our opinion on a car we've never driven...
Get the Camaro.

I agree with what most people say, drive them both and see how you feel. The warranty that comes with the camaro would almost be what seals the deal for me(if I was in your shoes). Take your time with the process, drive em both a few times. You really can't go wrong with either car. But like poormanscamaro said, it's hard for us to be unbiased in this topic.

I doubt that being on a Camaro site, you will get many who will tell you that you should buy a Mustang. That being said, they both seem to be great cars mechanically.....I guess you can't really go wrong with either choice. (I have not driven the new Mustang) I'm probably a little biased, but the Camaro has it all over the Mustang looks wise. The Mustang has "run of the mill" looks, the Camaro has "knock your socks" off looks. I've had mine almost a year and I still just stand there and stare at it.....it is one amazing looking car!! Then you have the warranty issue, you are going to get almost triple the length of warranty with the Camaro.
You can see where I'm going with this.....Choose the Camaro! I have absolutely no regrets at all, and I don't think you will either. I absolutely LOVE my car !! Welcome to the site, btw!!

I was posed the question a year ago as to what new car I would buy if I had XX dollars to spend. I took seven months researching and looking. Chrysler 300? Challenger? Mustang? Camaro? New truck?
I finally pulled the trigger in early March after comparing everything, and I mean EVERYTHING available on the cars I researched. Mechanical comparisons between the narrowed field demonstrated negligible differences. The decision came down to the warranty, looks, and feel. The Camaro won out after the test drive. As a past Camaro owner I was partial. However, I wanted to be fair and open to all vehicles. The feel of the drive is what finally sold me on getting my 2SS. |

why does everyone think that Ford didn't take any government money? They just didn't take any in the highly publicized recent bailout scheme.
They have taken government money in the past. They just avoided being lumped in with the "Bailout" of the big 3 http://blogs.iirgroup.com/?p=13854 6 Billion is no joke I'm just saying... Everyone takes money from the government, no one is better than the other in that regard. All though I have to give Kudos to Ford for keeping the perception that they don't out in public. oh ya and OP, chicks dig camaros
