The 2011+ Mustang Thread

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

The article says the the 5.0 and EB 3.5 make the same power, the V6 just gets better mileage, and is probably more mod-able. Judging by other turbocharged, DI motors the V6 will probably also have a flatter torque curve than the 5.0 or L99.

i know the ecoboost could easily make 400HP/400TQ with a tune but it currently makes 350HP/350TQ from factory with 6psi boost. i think the information in the article is a bit off. if anything was similar from factory it would be the 5.0 Coyote and the 6.2 Boss (400HP vs 420HP)

The Eco-boost V6 creating 400/400 is almost scary. I cant imagine you'd be able to get the same amount of power out of that car through aftermarket, its likely stretched close to its limits.

A DOHC 6.2L V8 should be good for at least 480hp.
Plus in the Mustang, the EcoBoost will make 355hp. * EcoBoost : 355hp - 350ft-lb torque * 5.0L V8 : 400hp - 400ft-lb torque * 6.2L V8 : 480hp??? - 400ft-lb torque??? I'm guessing the 6.2L V8 will replace the Supercharged 5.4L in the Cobra.

i personally don't think they will release it with 400/400. it is already in a lincoln with 350/350. a tune can makeup the difference, probably more

The 6.2 will not make the Mustang. Its going to the Raptor and later to the Superduty Ford truck line. Also dont see Ford offering up two 400 hp cars. Maybe one but not two in the same car. They will underpower the turbo v6 and keep the V8's as the "muscle". The v6 ecoboost in the MKS is rated at 340hp/340tq. I see them keeping that for the Mustang and upping the v8 to 385hp/360tq. Doubt the return of the Cobra but the GT500 will still be the top of the Ford muscle car tier. Maybe with the ecoboost turbos on the 5.0...will ahve to wait and see.
