WELL FU*K THIS IS STARTING TO MAKE ME REALLY FUC*?ING MAD! P9027 is the code I'm getting .the list of reasons that were listed didn't say exhaust leak ! But I'm sure it still the reason.just saying scan tool not a big help with upgraded parts.so now what's my option? If I pay for a tune thats not really fixing the problem is it? I've took it apart 3 times to fix this but after 2 days. it just comes back ! If it was leaking wouldn't the cel come on right away ? days. it just comes back ! Man that sucks speedy. Did you install the gasket like Mankind?

I can't believe I haven't had a problem since my shorties were installed some 7k miles ago.

are you sure it's an exhaust leak and not the rear o2 sensor reading excessive fumes like the folks with long tubes?

edit: nevermind. wrong cel code for that.

No I'm not really sure what's cousin the problem . How can I know if my o2 senser is bad ..when I welded the flange on the down tube I left the senser in could that couse damage?

no, that wouldn't cause any damage. and there wouldn't be anything wrong with the o2 sensor, its just with the long tube headers and high flow cats, the o2 sensor is just reading a lot more exhaust fumes than what it's supposed to. I'm not sure if that's the same problem you are having with just shorties.

WELL IT'S BACK 2 DAYS AFTER RESET AND RETIGHT BOLTS ..I don't see why the cel comes on after 2 days of driving ? If it was a leak shouldn't the senser turn on cel right away ?

Mine never turned on right away, it's got to reach a certain point. scrming has the PID for the DashHawk, and if IIRC, it had to reach 54% before the CEL came on. In my case, like yours, it took awhile.

PM Mankind about his gaskets. They have worked for him.

I know why... not sure if I can explain it but I will try....

ok.. here goes...

The rear O2 sensors are there strictly to monitor the cats... the front O2 sensors actually are used to make adjustments to the amount of fuel... Now even though the rear O2 sensors don't change anything and only monitor, they appear to have a "Long Term Fuel Trim". So as you are driving the rear O2 sensor is saying "Hey, you need to add more fuel... you need to add +2%". This is due to the exhaust leak (or so we think).

Now as I mentioned the rear O2s only monitor... so the computer ignores the +2%., so the A/F stays the same... But the rear O2 still things more fuel needs to be added... and then slowly the Long Term Fuel Trim will start creeping up... +2% becomes +10%... becomes +20%.. Eventually it will hit 54% .

At 54% the computer will actually throw the code, but it at this point it doesn't turn on the CEL. This fuel trim will actually go down too! If it drops below 54% and then goes back up to 54% it will then turn on the CEL.

I've watched these percentages closely on my car... I have seen it go right to 54% in a matter of 15 miles... and other times it may take a couple of days to hit 54%...

so... that is why you don't get the CEL right away...

I would be frustrated as heck too if I we're you guys...but that said, LTs are not going to be any better for you (at least with the CEL issue). No sure-fire proven method on fighting off the CEL without a tune. People are trying doubling up on 02 extenders, but so far there hasn't been any concrete results from that either. They just seem to prolong the inevitable (spelling on that word lol??). But I sure do hope someone finds a good method without a tune.

You want headers without a CEL....go with the welded Doug Thorleys.
