I installed TSP Ported Heads and a GPI SS1 in my buddy's 5th gen about a year ago. That cam got some torque! We have not dynoed it.

He still has stock converter and I have driven it multiple times. Drives great, no surging or anything.

He has over 135K miles and his trans went out, so he we are about to throw in a CD 2C.

why was the pull stopped at that RPM? I would have thought at least 6800...just to see how the HP curve drops....good info to set ur shift points...

nice job! peace..

I would get a recommendation from Ryan @ GPI on the converter. I bought my Circle D from them when buying the cam kit. I have a 245mm pro series single disc 3600 stall in my car with the SS2 cam. Based on what I have read here I wouldn't go any lower than that RPM. If you plan to boost or shoot nitrous it would probably be best to go with a multi disc converter.

The numbers & letters represent Circle D's model numbers. Here is a link to their FAQ's - http://www.circledspecialties.com/fr...sked-questions

I am wondering why a stall converter is recommended with the ss2. I've seen a ss2 running the stock converter and the owner claims the cars manners are fine. I didn't notice any surging as he drove away.

The SS2 can be used with a stock converter and plenty of folks are doing so. Its not needed but recommended.

From what I've heard from the more experienced members on here,

Stall before gears
Stall before cam
