Help with TPMS
I recently got new tires, rims and TPMS installed and now they will not relearn even if I try letting out the air for 8 seconds starting from FR, FP, RR,LR . at the shop the sensors would not set with the TPMS tool is there anything else I can try? Also I found the ride to be bouncy so I let out the air to 37 PSI originally they were at 40.9 PSI wouldn't that be over inflated ? They are pirelli tires 245 front to back.

Take it to a different shop, it is about a 5 min. job with the tool and someone that knows how to use it.

Some guy on here was able to reset them by placing a small magnetic tool tray next to the valve stems for a couple seconds. Won't hurt to try, I guess.

Do you know what kind of TPMS was used? Might not be the right sensors...

Make sure all tires are properly inflated before starting the relearn. I'd put 36psi in each tire to begin with.

Go back to the tire shop and find out what TPMS sensors you got. I found out that there are shops out there that install non-OEM sensors that can be reset only with their proprietary tools. One such shop quoted me a higher price if I "insisted" on OEM sensors that work with the GM tool. F'ing crooks.
Bottom line? I went back to the dealer for my new install. |

So that I don't spread misinformation, it was me. I got my camaro and c5 mixed up. The camaro won't relearn with the magnets. Sorry about that

I'm not sure of the brand TPMS they were but I will find out and it was much easier just to put 245 tires all around so I am able to do tire rotations having the 275 in the back were difficult enough to find in my local tire shops when I needed a replacement ASAP.

NO problems finding 275's on the internet, also I don't know what that FR, FP ,means, but the correct sequence is Driver side Front, Passenger side front , Passenger side rear, Driver side rear, First of all GM changed the frequency slightly in 2011, I have 3 sets of tires, on set 1 the TPMS works all the time, on set 2 about 85% of the time and on set 3 about 35% of the time. when I couldn't get the tire learning system to work on set 2, the GM dealer was able to do it with a tool he aimed at the TPMS (did not charge me for it) The TPMS transmits a signal and if that sig is just a little off, the sig will be weak and may not work, there are so many aftermarket manf, your best bet is tru a GM dealer, also another Camaro5 member that couldn,t get his learning mode to work said after a fuse pull, he was able to do it.

My local Chevy dealer does my TPMS for free while I wait, any time i'd like, no need for an appointment, only takes them 5 min.
In, out, done. No cost at all. |

Hi if you drove the car after new rims and tires where put on, more then likely you have a code set in the car, and if that happen you want be able to rest the TPMS with GM software.
We did that one time,we drove the car 3.5 mi to set the sensors at the local tire store, that was to long of a drive, and they where unable to set the sensors. So we got a friend with the GM software ( works for a dealer) come by my home and clear the codes, and then we used a hand held TPMS tool to reset them. That my be you problem, let me know if that help you out, If not that my be the rims. |
