Currently have 245-all season tires on my 2012 Camaro. Any suggestions for purchasing winter tires before the season begins?

You mean someone else drives their Camaro year round, besides me?
![]() Not on my Camaro, but I've had great luck in the past with Nokian Hakkapeliitta... That was on my old 87 Nissan 200SX, 400+HP and had no issues in winter with that. Generally any tire that's "winter" rated will be 10x better than any all season tire, though I've ran General Altimax all season tires in winter with great success on my old Nissan as well. I actually just replaced my original 2011 OEM tires with General Altimax R43. |

I have been running Blizzak DMV-1's in the winter. Highly recommend them, tons of grip and I never got stuck

Best is to get snow tires and and another set of wheels, just run them during the winter.

I move to Denver from Houston last spring...never done snow before, but didn't have a winter vehicle. Camaro it is, I guess!
Picked up a set of factory wheels to have as my winter shoes, and purchased a set of Pirelli Scorpion Winters Holy shit it's amazing how well it handles. I'm not racing thru town in the snow by any stretch, but for a ~475rwhp manual trans car, it blew my mind how well it handled the weather. Whatever you do, don't use all-seasons; get a dedicated set of winter tires. Blizzaks or Scorpions seem to be the preferred. I looked for the Nokians, as they also have a good rep, but couldn't find any available in the size I wanted. Getting a second set of wheels and a (quality) new set of rubber isn't going to be cheap, so be prepared to pay up. I was all in for ~1500 after rebates and deal hunting for both the wheels and tires. But, it's absolutely worth it for the ease of swapping, and peace of mind knowing that you're on true winter tires. |

The statement about having 2 sets is on the money. I run all seasons and snows. I absolutely love the nittos, they did great on my v6 and v8. Plus they average 100 less per tire. If you try to run the blizzak make sure you have the right rims, they dont offer a staggered fitment for our oe size. Yes they have them but for safety and proper snow yielding off the tires the tread style needs to match. |

I have run the Continental Winter Contact Si tires for the last two winters. Could be a sleeper. You can find them for a good price, and they don't wear quickly.
