Battery Vent
Today I bought a new battery and I solve the vent tube connection.
The battery has 2 vent holes. Should I plug in one hole on the driver's side and blind the other one? Or connect both holes into one? How is it in your Camaros Gentleman's? |

you just need one hole open and then you can plug the other. The new battery should have come with a new elbow and plug. No need to use both holes to vent

This elbow and plug battery doesn't have.
And I didn't notice if the original AC Delco had only one hole and blanking plug, or two vent holes. But Camaro have only one hose. So the battery had to have one hole and a blanking plug. |

Did the new battery have a red cover over the positive terminal. The plug should be attached to it. Break it off the red cover and insert into the unused hole. There's a GM bulletin on it.

If you still have the old battery you can also pull the plug out of it if you need to

Well SOAB...I thought that was just the tab used to connect the positive shield to the battery temporarily. I didn't realize you were supposed to tear that sucker off and plug your spare hole with it.

Can you get the vent tube as a replacement part? My car has an interstate in it from a previous owner and I always wondered why there was a “plug” missing from the bottom of the spare tire well in my trunk. I now know that’s where the vent tube exits the car. I have no vent tube assembly at all.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ent+tube,16762 You could probably make your own with fish tank air tubing, but for only $10 I would just go with OEM.
