Attn Law enforcement and Lawyer ppl or ppl with knowledge of law. is this a threat

Ok, this girl and I are good friends and went out for a while and her stepdad is a real douche. He is also the janitor at our school... Anyway he has always made little threats to her about me... but never directly to me. The most recent threat, I guess that is what this is called, is when she was telling him about my car. He said that if he ever caught her in it that he would smash the window, pull her out and then beat me... Now to me this is pretty disturbing. My question is, can anything be done about this..

additional info: Past threats are kind of like if i ever see him touch you i will brake his (my) hand... Like I said he has never directly threatened me but he is always telling her little things that he'd do to me.

In Mi. there is nothing that will be done for verbal threats, unless there is a weapon involved, which gives the immediate means to carry out the threat. Such as being armed and stating "I'm gonna shoot you." I don't know about Texas. In Mi. you would be told to seek a personal protection order if you felt threatened, but then again I am a father also and hopefully you are not a valid reason for the threats that are happening.(Such as you being a piece of S**T)
It's the old saying....two sides to every story.

Yes, but dude, there is something wrong with this girl for even repeating this stuff to you, unless she thinks he may really do something. Then again she may like the attention. If that's the case dump her and look for a tad more mature woman.

That's a dad trying to protect his little girl. A bond you'll never know until you have a girl. I will be the same way when my little girl gets to that age. I'm already polishing my shotguns.

I'm not sure how far you went but if you have to go overboard and threaten the guys your daughter brings home. Maybe she should wait a little longer to date. Like maybe 21.

I'm a retired AZ State Trooper. Until he threatens you directly, not much anybody can do about it. If you could get the local agency of responsibility to do anything, they MIGHT make an incident report or something, but that is unlikely. If your G/F wanted to file a report, they might take one from her and MAYBE talk to dad. Follow Steelheart's advice for a real answer.

Why doesn't the old man like you? Maybe she just saying that so she doesn't have to go with you.

Homecoming dance and we have done well so far raising her and we are not going to compromise now. And nothing keeps a young man straight like knowing there is a dad who will not tolerate his daughter being messed with.
