Luckily, it never happened to me personally since I always do my own maintenance on my cars. However, I do have some family members and friends who suffered through similar experiences.

FWIW:
"Striping"....as in putting a stripe down the center of your car. "Stripping"...as in stripping a thread. Not being a schmartazz, jest tryin' to help explain the differences!

Hey, I can respect someone that can openly admit their total lack of handiness or mechanical skills. It's the fakers and breakers I am puzzled by, unless there is an honest interest in trying to learn as they destroy (Their own stuff). So, no shame in that...or not much at least.

So i bought 8 meters long 2x12 white wood and decided to do the work tomorrow.
Doing the following measurements with total of 5 pieces stacked which will give me 10" lift 50" 42" 34" 26" 18" Will also put an angle on the edges at 45 degrees so it makes it easier for the car to drive up and will attach a rubber mat to the bottom

Was in Walmart and bought the rhino ramps like so many suggested and worked great on all 3 of my cars.
When I lower my camaro then I would have to drive on a 2x10 first I guess to clear the ramps

I made wooden ramps out of 2x12 but they tended to slide on the garage floor.
I bought a low profile jack at northern tool but still had to drive up on a piece of 2x12 to get the jack far enough underneath to reach the lift point. I finally got around to putting on my ZL1 addons jack pad. There is a cutout in the plastic where the jack would go. The lift pad gets installed there. Because of the extra bracing on a vert I had to enlarge the cutout to clear the bracing. Now everything works easy peazy. The jack pads remain on the car permanently and the low profile jack can fit under to lift. The I just put it on jackstands to work on it. |

I went to a J#$%! Lube today out of a lack of time to do it myself ( seems everyone but me has time for projects, not complaining since Im still fully employed) and within 1 minute of my hood being open I watched the guy start filling my radiator overflow with washer fluid. I asked him what he was doing and at first he danced around it then matter of factly told me "Don't worry, I'll pump it out". I kindly asked that they pump it out and close my hood cause I was moving on.
Also, the last time I had my tires switched over that shop put my 275's on the left side and the 245's on the right. It's just easier to do it yourself I've found. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

You can make the slope on DIY ramps as gradual as you need. A couple of handles on the sides of stacked 2x10's makes them a lot easier to manhandle. I've used metal ramps (still have them somewhere) but they were the kind that had tie bars running between the sloping part and the vertical end panels. Main reason I don't use them any more is that they're too narrow for the tires on two of my cars. I wouldn't ever use the kind that didn't have the tie bars. Norm
