That is what I am pointing out. The common standard is crank hp. If you are providing another number other than crank it really needs to be stated. I looked at a Car & Driver today, a Porsche GT2 is 530 hp and weighs 3400 lbs 0-60 was 3.4. The GT-R is 480 hp and weighs 3900 lbs 0-60 was 4.1. Even with all wheel drive the Nissan shouldn't be able to keep up. Something doesn't add up. I would love to see a GT-R pulled off the delivery truck and dynoed.

$70,000 car that can hang with Ferrari Enzo?. Now thats pretty good engineering, no?
Honestly, I'm not all that impressed because the thing is just a little cracker box and isn't in the same league as the others. I'm sure that people who build motorcycles could easily build one that spanks all these cars at the same tracks for a hella lot less money. Is it really fair to compare such vastly different classes of vehicles?

I think all he is saying is that a much cheaper car keeps up with much more expensive cars. Just like the Z06 does and the ZR1 will. No one will confuse a Z06 or GTR with a Ferrari or Porsche but if your quest is speed and performance you can do as well as a Ferrari or Porsche for a lot less money with either of them. I think its great to have this kind of competition. Soon we’ll see an NSX, a LF-A maybe a Supra, etc. It’s great!

I get tired of hearing MPG, green, green, green all the time now. Yes it’s important but it sure as hell is boring.

To beat a GT-R:

Mods to engines to equal up to 500-550 HP

Gut the interior, yes everything but the driver seat and the gauges, mines well install a roll cage while you at it

aftermarket suspension

150 shot of nitrous, that should do it lol

The ZR-1 can beat the GT-R and the GT-R spec V. The ZR-1 supposedly ran the quickest time ever recorded at Nurburgring for a factory car at something like 7:26?

Anyway, you can make any car beat any other car--just a matter of how much money you want to pour into one and/or how crazy or stupid one is!

Is the HP rating you gave for the GT2 at the crank, or the wheels?

And I believe the GT-R's 0-60 is more like 3.8, and can get as low as 3.4 with launch mode (Don't quote me on those numbers though, I DO know they were both in the 3 second range, NOT the 4 second range.)

the gt-r is making 475 hp / 428 tq at the wheel, it's been tested a few times

here's a dyno & graphs

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=125172

it takes more than pure HP to set a ring record, it's also brakes, and handling

That time was not official or accurately measured and smells more like a PR stunt than a real time.

Keep in mind that the ZR1 tested was in "factory" configuration, designed for riding on the street. It was NOT tuned for track use. If Nissan can make a special version of their car tuned to run the 'ring, then Chevy can always come back with a ZR1 with the suspension adjusted for track use and mop the floor with the little superricer.
