Coolant temp reached 250 degrees in traffic today
Coolant temp stays between 190-210 while moving, but quickly goes up when stopped. Fans don’t cut on until like 240 degrees. And my temp needle on the dash stays well below halfway even at up to 220 degrees shown on dash and then went to halfway and a little beyond at 250. I just added coolant last week and I’m low again. And even when I hit 250 degrees I didn’t get a temp Warning message on dash.
I have a thermostat ready to replace but I can’t find any info on how to do it |

If you're loosing fluid I would get it pressure tested first though.

Well the clue here is that you had to add coolant already. I would be concerned about a leak, cracked radiator, or worse - a head gasket. But let's not go there just yet.
Just for the sake of caution, have you checked your oil level and quality? Just make sure it still looks like oil and not pudding or a frothy mess. Also, when you overheat like this your oil change interval will set itself to zero, at least it will on the V8s, not sure about the LLT or if 250º would trigger it. On the V8 Camaros you get 2 levels of overheating warnings. The second one puts you into reduced power mode. Again, not sure how it is with the LLT/LFX. Either way, once you get this figured out you need to get that oil changed as overheating the engine cooks that oil and drastically reduces it's life.

No sign of leaking coolant?
No smell? 10 year old hoses might be the culprit but it isn't beyond reason for a crimp to be leaking on the rad. I have picked up the habit over the years to either park where a leak would be obvious on returning to said spot or in the case of my Camaro drip mats underneath. Eight years and the Camaros never leaked but my DD just had a wheel brake cylinder let go and I caught it the next day.

If your system is not holding pressure, the boiling temp of the coolant is too low and it's boiling off.
It's not necessarily the case that you will see a puddle under the car when this happens, because the coolant is leaving as vapor. Pressure test is the obvious first step, as others have said. If the system is pressurized, you don't need to add coolant for YEARS. |

Possible head gasket leak. That was my issue with low to no coolant in the overflow tank.

Where did you add coolant.... reservoir or radiator? Last time you checked it.....changed it?

Went to replace the thermostat today which was probably the hardest job I’ve maybe ever done and found my housing is broken where the thermostat is supposed to be held in
I am assuming this is my issue |

Let's hope so. Make sure you get it pressure tested after your done to confirm or find the issue.

Did you fix the issue? If so, what were the steps on getting to the thermostat?
