helped my buddy with his 73 Nova yesterday -__-
so my best friend sold his nova 5 years ago and bought it back from the dude he sold it to 5 years later.
a little back story. I helped him build this motor in engine building/blue printing class at out community collage. has a Zero balanced crank hotter cam bunch of nice things then. the car started to overheat after 5 min of driving was pushing coolent out the cap this new owner. he messed up things bad. this car maybe had 5000 miles on the rebuilt engine when sold. in that 5 years the last owner removed the engine removed the heads just to paint the block blue and did it poor job there is paint on some of the mating surfaces we found a mix of metric and standard bolts, head bolts a mix of to tight and finger tight. this prior owner thought that because it was overheating the best idea was to F##KING REMOVE THE THERMOSTAT and drive it like that get this he used a Gasket that was to small of a passage way for coolant to pass and well because here are the pictures phone died before I] could get more pics of both heads off. no I'm not a crack head I play acoustic guitar |

he is looking for a wrecked SS Sedan with a LSX
this is his 1st car as well it use to have the inline 6 back when he got it. its had a lot of changes over the years . best plan for the money he has right now fix it and just go enjoy it tell this motors tired and worn out then replace it once he has a stable job. right now he has a 2 year old kid 2 car payments and is on disability he really wants a super charged LSX |

welp Nova down. the heads are confirmed Warped on my buddy's 73 nova. he is going to see if he can get them decked, given how water was in the cylinders before we un did the heads this has been a problem for a long time.
that's been there a while. I'm guessing he will need new heads no argument about that there. he found a broken lifter and will prob have to sleeve 1 or more cylinders just to keep this engine. I'm just going to say a easy bet this motor is a total loss. given more damage keeps being found on motor. I am hoping its not one but i would not even try with this engine if it was my car. id be saving up for a junk yard build LS kind of feel bad given this is my best friend getting hit like this. |
