What coolant do you guys recommend? Factory Dex-cool? 2014 2SS LS3
Hi, The car has 14K on it now but I am thinking of changing it because of age, Stick with the Factory brand Dex-cool? I know not to mix coolant types, Just wasn't sure if there's a better brand.

I believe the coolant is 10yr/100k service intervals. Just run the OE stuff if you don’t feel like doing a full flush. Otherwise, distilled water with water wetter is the way to go of you don’t drive in the winter (which I’m guessing you don’t since the miles indicate you don’t drive much in general).

I just roll with Dex-cool. If it already has Dex-cool in it, then you'd have to have a very thorough flush if you want to change coolant type (or so I've been told).

Yeah, I am just going to run Ac Delco Brand Dex Cool in it. I switched most of my Power sports stuff over to Honda Pro/Type 2 years ago, I also have 2 Chrysler products here that take a Different type from one another and a Ford product and a Toyota as well.. It is a pain with all these different types of coolants. I am not a fan of universal.
I am guessing 4 Gal Total should get the Job Done, I Run The Zerex Dex Cool in my GMC Plow truck.

No Winter driving, Car is stored in my Climate controlled shop, I have quite a few vehicles, This one is just for some road trips and cruises. I am planning to get back to the track, I have a fully set up 3 RD gen for years that this is going to replace.

Stick with what the factory states and you can not go wrong, based on your signature.

Dexcool but try to not mix it with tap water. Tap water IS compatible BUT you will greatly reduce the anti-corrosion inhibitor life. Leads to more frequent coolant changes required.

Yes I know not to use Tap water and what not, I just wasn't sure if there was a aftermarket brand of Dex Cool that people preferred.

Are you guys changing the Coolant while hot or cold? I don't think I am going to flush it with water, I was planning on just draining it and refilling it along with the coolant tank. I am changing because of age not use/Mileage.

Hot.
Flushed and cycled it five times with distilled before filling with dexcool. I change it every five years regardless of mileage.

I drained the coolant today at operating temp, I did not flush it I just drained it out I tried to get all of it out of the Overflow as well. I only got 2 Gallons back in, I am assuming I did not drain it all. My Plan is to do it again next year then every other after that. I am not a fan of the dark Over flow tank.
