Notice #3 2010 camaro to stay away from.... 5th gen camaro unreliable? Since when? Says timing chain wears out quickly? I suppose 200k is quick?

"A thrilling ride or an adrenaline-filled ride is one thing, but a dangerous or expensive ride is too much. We can look past a few unreliable aspects of an affordable and powerful muscle car. But the 2010 Camaro is one of the most unreliable cars of that time.
The 2010 Camaro has a timing chain instead of a belt. Despite that, the chain wears out pretty quickly, and the engine and transmission are just waiting for something to go wrong. If that’s not dangerous enough, the airbag light can go off on its own, perhaps just to give the people inside a little scare."

I never heard of the airbag light going off. Dont know where this editor got its info from but....ok. I heard of the airbag deploying at autox events but that was fixed.

The timing chain issue was on the V6 cars. I've never heard of a LS timing chain wearing out. There are junkyard 5.3s with 300K miles pushing 20 lbs of boost on grudge races.

Only issue I really know of for the timing chain is the guide(tensioner) wearing prematurely. Swapping to a ls2 guide with c5r chain is on my list.

That and the random output shaft failure in the early 2010s are the only issues I know of.

Other than the blend door issue that seems to pop up not terribly infrequently, what real issues did the early Gen 5 SS models ever have?

Just added the C5R timing chain and LS2 guide with my cam swap. But no issues with the stock stuff.

If they mentioned like oil pump failure, I'd almost understand that. But the timing chain is a v6 problem. Even then the LLT is good for about 100k without issues then you have to begin to worry about the chain. I dont think we live in a generation where 100k is low miles by any means or where 100k without an issue is unreliable.

whats really odd is the 71 SS produced 300 horsepower/400 tq. and was real fast.yet my 6 cylinder makes 323 hp,and stock for stock it would probably be a drivers race.and this was before the change to net ratings in 1972...with gas at 5 bucks a gallon for 87 i know which one i want to drive daily.
