B&B or not to B&B

Its been a while since I played with engines and I know everything is computerize but I would never thing of doing anything to my engines without a Balance and Blueprint. I plan on putting between 12 and 15k into my new Camaro and I am going with a Vortech and a cam to get a little help of the line. But the Vortech peek at 22psi I want to run at least 14 after all why spend all that money just to run it at 6, heck its not even worth the sales tax at that point. Get your engine B&B and you will have more fun and many more miles, this is what I always believed. Engine parts are made for metal alloys, unless everything is cut from the same piece of stock, (I know you use different metals on different parts) and the same guy is doing the cutting on the same machine using the same bit, there are going to be ,no matter how small, differences between cylinders, rods, etc. Call me old school but when I take my L99 to 900hp its going to be B&B.
Am I wrong, are engines and parts that perfect today?

They are definitely a lot better today then they were in the old days.... Every thing is machined on CNC machines and they can easily keep everything at + or - .0001 or better .....
