Joe, I'm running a ZL1 pump with my setup and power level along with the stock injectors, and my Aeroforce gauges show about 65-70% on the injector duty at WOT...

Thank you sir for the info I appreciate it. That's what I figured I would eventually do is ZL1 fuel pump and injectors maybe after I get some new heads.

Hello my friend,
I'm getting in on this kind of late. I have the livernois dual pump upgrade in my car right now and I get 22 miles to the gallon on the freeway doing 70. No e85 stations near me so I run 92 with boostane. But I'm having to put in larger fuel pumps due to my engine build, The fuel pumps lasted till about 950 horsepower which they're only rated for 800 that's pretty good. The engine I have in there right now should hit about 1100 horsepower. I am running ID850 fuel injectors and they should hit about 90% duty cycle. I am putting in the Holley dual 450lph pump set up with a return system. This pump is rated to 1700hp so it should be good for the 427ci I am currently building. I will be selling the livernois pumps @ 50% off soon, if you are looking to upgrade the stock pumps. But not in it for fuel milage, in it for the grin factor! |

IDK about highway, cuz I'm never on it. City I am at 11.7 mpg on 93.
I am only driving her about 20 miles a week lately, so it lasts a while regardless.

Even though a stroker increases cubic inches over stock you can still retain the same or better fuel economy by making things more efficient and optimizing the tune. In theory most performance modifications work by making the engine more efficient, the problem is more power=equals a lead foot for most drivers and fuel economy takes a hit. There is no reason you can't have it both ways.

I was once issued a V12 equipped work vehicle that had no AC and got 0.8mpg. I suspect who would win a race would be heavily influenced by terrain selection as it wasn't all that quick but it was a tank. I mean, literally, it was a tank. Mine clearing M60A3, to be precise. |

This thread inspired me to check my average mpg. 21.3 was the reading. I do almost all highway driving with the car and am generally in the 80-88 mph range.
So just for funsies I dialed it back to 70 and reset the gauge. For 30 miles I did 70. Result was 26.3mpg. Almost no wind, no AC on, windows up, very light traffic. Essentially ideal conditions. I'm basically stock drive train wise, just an aftermarket intake. Indy 500 tires and a Peddars adjustable suspension that lowers the car about an inch so maybe a little less air resistance and probably not a ton of rolling resistance. Not that I plan to eek out the best fuel economy I can and it'll be back to normal next time, but it was an interesting little experiment and pretty impressive what a car this heavy and with this much power on tap from the factory can manage economy wise. |
