I’m not sure why people think it’s only California that has these smog laws, it’s only in 49 other states also lol California is full of liberal democratic hippies that care much more for the environment. Btw 2000 and up vehicles don’t get a sniffer test once they’ve smogged once, just a visual and a DTC check.

super tough to get around OBDII and CARB these days @jlsat3. if you can find a shop that still can maneuver around OBDII and get you a pass into DMV it’ll be five hundred bucks for the hack. sincerely good luck on the SMOG

does this only apply to the cat ready codes not being there because of the headers? what else is in the obd11 thats causing issues if theres no codes being thrown.

A good alternative to emissions is to register your car in a state that doesn’t require them. Montana and South Dakota are good choices. Montana requires a Montana mailing address, SD doesn’t. Cheaper tax rates also.

Montana can be done by creating a LLC. Common state to use for registration for kit cars if no possible in a home state. Probably closer to being legal if done through an LLC.
