JRE Dipstick Installation Overview
I thought it was time to install a dipstick on the automatic transmission. Not knowing the exact level of transmission fluid in an automatic can be a bad thing especially on hard launches at the dragstrip. I made a short viseo of what I did to install the dipstick.

I just did this a few days ago. Not sure if you mentioned it in the vid, but that bolt is a 15mm.

I would be interested to see where the fluid level registers on the dipstick at various temperatures.
The Helm manual instructs that "correct" level is obtained when the fluid stops running out of the level-check straw-hole at the prescribed temperature (which is neither cold or full-hot). . . . . |

After adding an extra quart, when the car is hot and running in Neutral, my level was right at the top of the cross hatch area. The cross hatch area on the dipstick says "Hot" BTW.

Any idea what "hot and running in Neutral" refers to specifically, concerning the actual temperature of the fluid? Thanks!

So running in neutral and hot is the proper way to check fluid level with the JRE dip stick?

I would be leary of the markings on the dipstick. Unless you leaked atf, you should still be at the factory fill level. I wouldn't think you burned off any atf. The only way to really know is to drain it and replace with the recommended capacity or pull the fill plug, then check the installed dipstick. Idk if 1qt over capacity would be harmful to the auto, too much can be.

I replaced the speed sensors and did a fluid and filter change. Did the JRE dip stick at the same time. So I have no baseline. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

temp of fluid when checking level with JRE dipstick
Does the fluid need to be between 86-122 F when checking the level on the JRE dipstick? If you add the extra quart to get to the top of the "Hot" hatch marks what is the temp of the fluid with the tranny in park to check level?
