The Best Exhaust

Pretty much as the thread title says. What's the best in your opinion, and why?

This is about as loaded a question as you can get in a car forum lol. The best exhaust is always the one you bought, so you'll hear everyone defending/justifying/praising their choice over choosing any other. Some will even try and appear unbiased by saying things like...others are nice, but....

In the end all that matters is which one do YOU like. On this particular car there isn't hardly any difference performance-wise between the various ones available so it's mostly a matter of sound; which one has the sound you like. And that is a totally subjective decision.

Listen to the various clips posted:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21289

and make your choice, although realize that the sound you hear from those clips can be affected by the microphone used to record them, and the ability of your speakers to reproduce the sound.

I chose Zoomer's because it has the Borla growl I like, and it sounds more like a precision, high-performance race car. It's a smooth, clean sound; not raspy or ratty sounding.

Oh, absolutely. I know some of it is subjective. I just wanted to hear the different opinions on it. Thanks in advance to all.

There are so many exhaust choices, like its been said, its about the sound you like!

How loud do you want to go? What is the sound your looking for? Horsepower wise your looking around the same ballpark for all kits.

The Best thing to do is go to car shows and see if anyone with a new Camaro has aftermarket exhaust. You can listen on Youtube (Or TVBMC ) for a general idea as well.

Corsa is going to give you a no drone exhaust, and a lot of people like to make sure that their exhaust choice has the no drone. But with the more technology comes a higher price tag.

Do you have a 6 Speed? Or an Automatic? If you have an automatic you will also have to deal with the fuel management system, when that kicks in, depending on the system, the sound changes a bit.

Here is a list in our store of what we offer and if you have any questions just give us a call at 1-877-BMC-RWHP or shoot me a PM
http://www.bmcspeedshop.com/category....htm?Click=439

My personal choices are:
1. MBRP
2. Borla
3. Corsa

I have an auto, and one of my main concerns is: I wouldn't mind the car being louder (obviously, heh), but I don't want it so loud that it becomes a pain on long trips (also, car is my daily driver,) and I don't want the AFM to be an issue, because at the moment it is fine.

I would like it a bit louder, more muscle-car sounding, but my main concerns are the above and the additional power gain (plus I hear the stock exhaust is about 50 pounds heavier.)

Are you looking for a sound upgrade or a Performance upgrade?

Sound Upgrade I recommend Corsa especially for L99 Cars with AFM

Performance Upgrade go with headers and high flow cats, I recommend Dynatech in to your stock exhaust.

I stock both if that helps.

Ted.

Currently, I'm weighing the whole warranty-voiding issue, so I'm going w/ CAI & exhaust first since they seem to be the most innocent performance mods in that area. I still have time to waffle about it since I won't have the cash to do this until after the holidays anyway, so now I'm really just gathering information. If at all possible, I'm going with a camaro5 supplier as well. So I'm not sure about the headers, if you see what I'm sayin'. But further mods ARE a possibility, so by all means, keep the good info flowin'.

What I want in order of priority in an exhaust:

1. To not dread a long trip because of the freakin' AFM or a sound that would be fine for the dragstrip but annoying on an extended drive. I would even give up a few horses for this, because the car is my daily driver.

2. Performance.

3. Sound.

Given this info I still have to recommend Corsa

We have not seen any Hp gains to speak of from any cat back exhausts.

So Sound and Looks is all that is left.

Ted.

If you don't want to worry with any Drone issue but want an aggressive muscle car sound Corsa is a good choice for you.

To me, that is such a personal preference kind of question, the only way I know to answer it is share what I have done and why. Basically went for as much bang for the buck as possible. I went with Doug Thorley shorty headers and had local performance exhaust shop custom build my exhaust from the cats back with X-pipe, resonator delete, Flowmaster Super-44 mufflers (for the old school deep muscle car sound) and 4 inch tips. The whole setup (including installation) done for less than $1,700 which leaves me just enough $ for my final mod being a CAI. After doing all the pricing and comparison of all the big name branded offerings, this is the route I took and glad I did. It sounds awesome and performs even better. Not saying my setup is better than any others, but it works for me, especially with my performance budget. I found the big branded offerings were way too raspy and certainly way too expensive for me. Again, it is a personal preference type of thing to me. Sound clip in the sig. Good luck.

There's NO performance gain to an exhaust system? :(

ANY exhaust system? (Well, that won't be annoying to drive, and etc.)

Edit: Maybe it isn't strictly hp gain but the lighter exhaust?

I might be old school but I definitely know if you open up your exhaust and let that baby breath you are going to pick up hp because you stop the back pressure. There is a dyno some place on the forum where someone put ARH long tube headers on and picked up 30 than added a tune and picked up another 20.

Headers Definately Pick Up Lots of power but with Exhaust I have yet to see anything, the factories are really doing a good job of designing exhaust due to the Government EPA standards for fuel mileage.
