some question

ive never posted here before so im not quite sure how to ask this but i guess ill just tell my story. im 16 years old, 2 years ago my dad got me a 1979 4 speed z28 with ttops. we have been working on it together ever since, the car is within a week of being in running condition, we restored most every part of the car and put a new engine in it, the engine is a gm performace parts v8 350 with 290 hp and 325 torque, i have a new 14 inch diameter 3 inch tall air cleaner that i am putting a k&n in shortly, an edelbrock 1406 performer carberator, new water pump, a racing type manifold that came off orginal engine but was restored, edelbrock performance fuel pump, a new distributer that is the same model as the original, new radiator, and a street ready harmonic balancer, and chevy polished alluminum valve covers. i plan to have flowmaster super 44 muflers and pipes for christmas.

Im trying to find a pair of headers "i still have the stocks" that will give me the highest amount of power increase for under 400 dollars. any suggestions?

with all this im trying to reach 350 hp, does anyone know if that is possible with this setup if i get the right headers?

thanks for anything anyone can tell me

I'd go with Hooker Competition series / ceramic coated headers...should fit in your budget. If you have a little more money to spend, go with the super-competition series.

If you really want to get 350hp out of that motor, you'll probably have to swap in a different cam and/or do some port work on the heads. Not sure of all the motor specs, but you're not going to get a jump of 60hp w/ just headers.

thanks i was actually looking at some of those.

oh i meant with the current setup, like the k&n is supposed too boost it a little bit and my caruerator is a performer series, plus the flowmaster 44s, im not sure if the racing manifold has any significance all but was just wondering.

it depends on how they come up with 290hp for the motor... I would imagine, it's on an engine stand w/ open headers. So, I really doubt you're adding any power with any of those parts, just maybe losing less by the time the power gets to the wheels.

This cam will put you at around 350HP 60203LK - Lunati Voodoo Hydraulic Camshafts (268). I run this cam in my 67 (327) and it is a great all around cam. I used a 1406 Performer on it but changed to a 670 Holley street avenger and it picked up 2 tenths in the 8th mile. I also run the Doug's 308 headers.

It's just 60203 on the Lunati site. The number I gave you was off of my Jegs receipt.
