Modded up labors to start
What's going on there Wingnuts,
So I bought this semi beastly and modded up 2011 LS3 a few months ago. It had some serious issues hot starting until I ran that 4 Ga. ground from engine block to the frame (which I got from one of you, thanks for that) and the motor has had no problem hot starting since then except that it sounds like it's laboring to turn over a bit. I'm sure most people would let it got but I've got some mental problems with wanting things to be perfect so I also bought a brand new AC Delco starter, wrapped it in double thick titanium turbo wrap and had it installed today because it's like a billion degrees out and I wasn't in the mood. Long story short, this brand new starter actually sounds shittier than the last one that had possibly 57,000 miles on it. In other words, it sounds like it's laboring even more, like why did i even pu this new one in? Any ideas, suggestions, deal with it pal statements that you guys got would be greatly appreciated. Maybe remove the ground, wire sand the contact points to get some fresh metal and upgrade it to a 2 Ga? idk.. |

I grounded mine from Bell housing to the frame and noticed a big difference in starting, You could try another ground from battery to body as well. 4GA should be fine. How is your battery? Even if new is it a quality battery with plenty of cranking amps? I run a New Factory Ac Delco battery without issue.

Thanks so much for the input guys, nothing like spending money on some new parts only to feel like it was completely wasted. It sounds like I need to run that ground from the bell housing to the frame. Any photos/videos of where exactly you did that? I'm sort of an aspiring wrench-head and still a little green.

I don't have any pics but if you Google it you may find some, behind the starter on the bell housing to the body next to it, I believe there's an unused bolt there. You can pick up 4 GA premade cable from auto zone, I think it was $6.00.

Well today I ran the ground from the bell housing to the frame and I also ran one from the negative battery terminal to the ground in the trunk, still having issues starting. Is it possible that I have put too many grounds on the motor because I also have the ground in the engine bay on the driver's side per the video below:
I'm gonna try to take it to Autozone to have the battery tested because I'm not sure what else could be causing the problem. Maybe I should look for a higher performance starter instead of the stock one as well. What you guys think? |

Bigantmoe,, here is the starter I replaced mine with. Like I said in one of my other postes on this, she starts up really quickly now, hot or cold with BOTH extra ground cables, trunk and bellhousing to frame. The starter even sounds like one of those "expensive" hi-torque ones now! lol.
