You guys have some interesting builds. Appreciate the info. I'm hoping to stay under 600 until the stock engine goes. It seems like the 6l80e can take 550 ish at the wheels and the diff and axles start to break around the same power level.
MotorTrend wrote an article in 2010-2011 about 5th gens and what commonly breaks with some rough RWHP limits. Pistons and rods supposedly will take about 600 at the wheels. 550 to 600 RWHP seems to be where things get expensive. Not sure how accurate they were but 550 at the wheels is 680 ish at the crank. I'm bracket racing a lot; so burnouts and hard launches on drag radials will probably eat my axles trans, or diff first and replacements are expensive at that power level. If I win the lottery I can change pulleys and make more power with drivetrain built to handle it. |

A broken parts depend a lot on tire type and how the car is driven. When I 1st installed the supercharger and had stock tires, nothing broke. Drag radials and drag strips have resulted in more broke parts than the cost of the supercharger. But it is very addictive having the power.
I have 40k + on my whipple without any issues related to the motor or supercharger. I change the plugs and belt every 20k for maintenance. |

I have a Whipple on my 2012 SS. I installed the Whipple and first cam upgrade in 2013, at around 12K miles. Car made 630whp, and was daily driven. In 2017, I performed the 2nd cam upgrade, fuel system upgrade, and had the heads ported. Car made 800+ rwhp, still daily driven. In 2020, I performed the third round of mods, going to a 10-rib belt setup, 10% OD harmonic damper, and a 3" blower pulley. Haven't dynoed the car yet, but it should be near the 900+ rwhp mark. Car sould still be a daily driver, but I have a work car now.
Car currently has 90K miles and is still running on the FACTORY installed clutch and drivetrain. Only thing that has been replaced are the rear tires -Scott |

Does seem a little odd, unless it has the twin plate LS9 clutch or something ?

Wow. I’m shocked as well that you still are running a stock clutch! But that’s awesome. I was running stock clutch as well before rebuilding my motor…and it was holding the power. Decided to do the clutch since the motor and trans were apart. But was curious if I wasted my money on that..

I have a Maggie also ( heartbeat ) very reliable, only problem in 3years , coolant reservoir lid threads broke off (plastic), warranty covered it, very reliable, my.02
