Front

  • CTS-V/ZL1 6-Piston brake calipers and rotor are 100% bolt on to a Gen5 Camaro with no modifications needed. Because of the lower feed/mount potions on the 6-piston caliper for the brake line you will need a longer bake line than the stock SS has. A ZL1 stock line or SS braided lines for a ZL1 will work for the front and rear. DO NOT tray to make the stock SS line work.
Rear
  • Gen5 Camaro SS, SS/1LE and ZL1 rear calipers are all the same. (sans paint color)
  • Gen1 CTS-V Calipers are similar, however they do not have the notch near the mounting bolt to clear the Gen5 Camaro rear shield that protects the E-Brake. The shield can be notch or the caliper can be ground for clearance, but I don't recommend either. (order the Gen2)
  • Gen2 CTS-V Calipers are a better match for the Gen5 Camaro as they have the notch needed to bolt directly on to the Gen5 Camaro. You MUST keep the left caliper on the left side and the right caliper on the right side. There are two pistons in the caliper, a large and a small (leading and trailing) and the pistons control taper wear.
  • Gen2 Fitment: Because the GEN2 CTS-V has forward mounted calipers and the GEN5 Camaro has rearward you need to keep them on the same side of the car so you will need to swap the bleeders and crossover lines top to bottom. The calipers are painted after assembly so the paint will crack were the line wrench contacts the cross over line. I suggest you remove the paint before had on the contact surface as it makes it easy to use the wrench. Once the cross over are swapped top to bottom with the bleeders you are good to go!
Thank you to my contact at the General that answers my text all the time!

I had to remove my LF dust sheild. I coudnt get the caliper to reach the bolt holes without being stopped by the sheild.

Is there another alternative for the rotors. 800$ for just rotors is insane.

There are the brembo ones from rock auto mentioned on previous page, looks like basically same thing but at around $600 for a pair, still a lot for just the rotors but it's less then alternative, I think CTSV front rotors are a little cheaper, feel like I remember a single piece one that was supposedly lighter that costs a good bit less.

Lots of choices on Rock Auto

I bought some Centric brand on there.

They(centric) also make Power Stop and Stop Tech as well

Thanks. I forgot about rock auto. Was looking at partsgeek, but I'm not confident with their fitment guide.

Bringing up this thread as I am a new 5th Gen owner and looking into this upgrade. Has anyone used the reman Nugeon brand CTS-V calipers from Rockauto? They are a very reasonable $232 CAD including core charge, compared to $550 CAD for new GM. It looks like they come without the V-series logo which is a nice "feature".

I was so close to pulling the trigger on the Nugeon branded calipers on Rockauto myself but then I found a deal for a full set of Zl1 calipers with pads, and drilled and slotted rotors for $900 on ebay. They need to be recoated but... I couldn't argue the price. My suggestion is to constantly search ebay and your local facebook marketplace. You will find something for sale somewhere locally for a good price, just gotta wait it out and be diligent.

Your eBay deal was good, but the problem for me is there would be at least another $100 USD shipping on that, and $1k USD is almost $1400 CAD for used stuff. The Nugeon calipers, rotors, and Brembo pad set is about $1600 CAD shipped including all taxes and duties from Rockauto. Finding this kinda stuff used in Canada is tough.

I have everything from RA.

They have the cross overs installed and come with all the hardware.

I got Red as they didn't have Yellow in stock.

Not installed yet though as I got cut off and bent 2 of my ZL1 5 spoke rims on a curb.

I don't think the 6 pistons will fit with my Giovanna Dalars.

I need to make a trip to Wheel Wizards in Hamilton to see if they can be repaired.

Curious why most people go for the more expensive 2-piece rotors, is it just for looks? From what I've read the dual-cast rotor is actually about 2 lbs lighter and cheaper. It also looks like the rotor ring isn't replaceable with the 2-piece rotors, kinda defeats the purpose IMO.

I assume not, but are any of the aftermarket rotors like Bendix, Wagner, and R1 Concepts dual cast like the original CTS-V rotors? The R1 concepts seem like popular replacements on the CTS-V forums, but most note that they are heavier than the originals.

I heard there can be a clicking sound with the one piece thats why GM changed them.

If you are using rotors in hard use (repeated, heavy braking cycles) then you want mass. The mass is part of what allows for better heat dissipation. Materials, design, supporting components, and other factors are part of it too. A 2-piece rotor also allows for a different material hub (usually aluminum) and allows the design to move more mass to the friction area of the rotor. If you just want to have a bigger rotor kit for the street and not going to put the brakes through repeated large heat cycles, like at the track, then a one-piece rotor is a compromise to save some money. Some do 2-piece for looks, some for performance, and I'm sure others have many other reasons. Also, there were some rotors that could be used with the hub on the 2-piece rotor. I have not looked in a while, but they were available.
