Spec Clutch

Any one running Spec clutches? If so your thoughts. They seem to be inexpensive which may be good or bad, lol. Oh ye, are yall bolt on cars?

I have a spec 3+ in my car now and it is performing great. It drives like a factory clutch and seems to be holding up well. My car dynod 610 rwhp for reference.

I have had two different twin disk setups and had issues with both. Once the spec went in I quit chasing clutch issues.

Well since you're the only one with opinion, I took your advice and ordered spec 3+

After you get some miles on it give some feedback on how its working for you. There was another post about clutch issues on this site where the person did not put any grease on the input splines and had issues. Something to keep in mind along with accurate slave shimming measurements.

Stay away from Spec, put a McLoed or a Monster in the car.

i have had 4 clutch systems in the same car over the past 8 years. The stock clutch couldnt handle the extra power with sticky tires. The Mcleod was pulled out after less than 20k as the driveability and vibration could no longer be tolerated and customer support was not good. The Mantic made it about 5k before warping at the hubs.

The spec 3+ is on its 3rd summer and 2nd pair of street slicks and still drives like a factory car while handling the power. I'm not sure how much power is needed for a multi plate system but at 610rwhp it works well.

I had a RST didn't last that long maybe installer, probably didn't give it proper break in, not for sure. It's too late 3+ sitting in my garage waiting to be installed.

I guess all clutch companies have the good and the bad.

I had a spec twin disc “rated” for 1400 hp… It was an on off switch… We ended up pulling it and sending it back to see if anything could be done… They “adjusted” it, put it back in the box dirty and returned it to me… We used it for a month or two and tossed it in the trash… Installed a Street Slayer triple disc carbon clutch… Used that until I graduated to the carbon quad disc…The triple wouldn’t hold 2000+ RWHP… Both the triple and quad carbon clutches drove like or better than stock… Expensive but fully rebuildable…
