Help! Can’t get oil pump off…
2015 Camaro LS3 manual transmission
Have the oil pan lowered about 1/4 inch, got the pickup tube unbolted from the oil pump. All pump bolts off, insides of the pump removed, but I can’t get the pump off of the pickup tube. There is t any slack or movement in the pickup tube at all, and I can’t rotate the pump body enough to get this done. Any tips? |

Glad you got it off. I was going to respond but didn't know what to tell you because I've always had my pan completely off to change the pump.

Installed my cam in the driveway. The oil pump was my biggest issue. Came off ok. Install with the o-ring on to the pickup tube was tight and the angle would not line up. Thought for sure I would cut/damage the o-ring. Even used the aftetmarket girdle to help with the pickup tube. It was a struggle. I used feeler gauges to align the pump, primed it by removing the plug on the driver's side block. When starting, held the gas pedal to the floor. This is a flood condition that will allow the engine to crank and build oil pressure, without starting.

You know you could always through a pair of CFD's crossmember flanges on there and get that oil pan of in the future.

I defiantly want a set to make changing the oil pump easier to remove.
