This past weekend I meet up with a photographer who loves American cars. He just turned 25 a few days ago and told me that when he was about 10 and saw the transformers movie for the first time it had a huge impact on his perception of muscle cars in particular (while making me feel old at the same time!) He usually charges for photo shoots but he really wanted to photograph my car so he did it for free, which I gratefully accepted.
While we were chatting and taking photos I head a distinct sound and another Camaro drove by. Stateside that wouldn't be too odd, but this is China, so the odds of two Camaros in the same place are astronomically small. Like most of us would have done in that situation, I ran after the other Camaro to say hi. We had never met before but he recognized me from all the videos I have been making. In our Camaro groups he doesn't say much, but it was nice to chat with him. Not only does he have a V6 Camaro, which 99.9% of them are here, but he is also building a manual V8 Camaro, one piece at a time, which is the first time I have ever heard of someone doing that here, and one of 2 manual Camaros that I know about in China. Ultimately his V8 will be unable to get registered for the road so it will be track only, but still, that is going to be an amazing project for him, and we managed to get a few photos of our cars together. He felt really bad because he recently de-modded his Camaro for legal reasons that I have written about before, so it was back to stock. He said after he puts the mods back on we should have another photo shoot. Also the photographer wants to get a 5th gen Mustang and a Challenger together so we can have a muscle car trifecta car shoot. I'm looking forward to that. The more we can do to improve the car culture, spread awareness and show the good size of car meets the better. If you got this far, you deserve some amazing photographs, I got 29 photos and here are my favorite... Also he photoshopped the last license plate my dad had registered before he passed away in 2008 onto my car which was really touching. |

I think that it was imported as a parts car, but next time I see him, I'll do some investigative journalism and get to the bottom of his story. I with I had enough cash to throw at a car like that! |

Sorry guys, this story doesn't really involve my Camaro, but it does include a GM product, but I thought it was cool enough to share here.
So on Friday I was checking my chat groups and I saw that there was an ad looking for an actor that can drive, so I applied. The agent said it was for a little TV show or something so I negotiated at the bottom of my limit and they confirmed with the director that they would like me for the role at 10:30pm, and I should arrive on the set at 11am the next morning. I drove my Camaro to the set. Anyway when I got there I was surprised to see some trucks from China's biggest movie production company and one of the aids then told me that this is a pretty big film and the director is Wen Jiang, who is really well known in China and most of you may know him from playing the character Baze in Star Wars Rogue One. So now I am thinking I asked for too little and I am really nervous knowing that I have a speaking line in a rather big movie. To complicate matters they I needed to drive the car, but I couldn't wear my glasses so I need to take the characters to a mark, stop the car, deliver my lines and then drive off. We did it in about 5 takes, and we'll see if my lines stay in the movie or not when it comes out. The other scene I did was some B rolls of driving through a tunnel. That was fun driving in the dark without my glasses. The car I was provided with was a Buick... something? I am not sure but it smelled like all the old American cars I remember riding in as a kid. The AC was weak, the power steering going and used about 1/8 a tank of gas while I was doing the scene. Anyway, here are the cars they used. It was supposed to take place in the late 90's in the US. The characters in my car were getting pranked thinking that they would be going to the White House to perform for the president and I was the driver taking them. I still don't know what the movie is called or the actors in my car, but according to the people on set they were not too famous, but the movie has a few well knows people. The movie may be released in the US, and if you ever come across it you can say you know the random driver, haha! Oh, and the "presidential" limo kept breaking down and I pointed out that they made a prop license place for the wrong Washington plate- they used the state, not Washington D.C. I should have got paid more! |

This summer I was away from my Camaro so no updates, but I have been making a lot of videos and saw some amazing cars during my time back home.
If you have some time, please check out my little channel and if you like to subscribe or like, that would make me feel nice~ Here is the most recent one: And here is my summer car that I've owned since 2009: After watching, if you have any feedback or constructive criticism don't hesitate to share your thoughts with me. I am trying to get better at my editing, filming and acting skills, and want to make more interesting pieces. I enjoy every part of the process, and am not trying to make money or get famous, it's purely intrinsic for me. Thanks everyone! |

Thanks for the videos. You do pretty good with it. Can't believe you skipped the 4th gen!
And the Z4, is a very nice stylish roadster! Love it. Brian

Thanks, while the 4th gen is my least favorite of the Camaros, I don't dislike it at all, actually I didn't see any 4th Gens at that show!

Not much going on here in China. I am also working on a master's degree in education, so I won't have the free time to hang out with car people for the next year or so. However, recently I have been fixing all the little things on my car.
When I got back from my vacation in the US the front headlight and one of the taillights were not working. The head light does that every so often, the shop I take it to gets it back on with some relay or something, but the custom taillight was fried from when water got it last year. I uninstalled them and will be getting them refurbished and updated soon. The trunk release hadn't been working for nearly a year, and the light in the trunk was also not doing its job for a few years. Most recently, the light only came on when the trunk was closed, so I had taken out the bulb. When they worked on the head light, I asked them to look at the trunk too. They discovered some wires had been damaged so with that repair, the trunk release worked and when I put the bulb back in, the it started functioning properly again too. In the spring of this year, I also replaced the trunk's struts so now it closes gently, opens with a press of a button (instead of a string I tied to the emergency release cable and snaked through the back seat) and has a working light inside the trunk! I am very happy to say that as of now there are no faults with my car. I guess the only fault is that I haven't been to a track day in over a year and half a car show in nearly a year. What's the point of such a cool car when I can't show it off?! At least it's safe in the underground garage, and while the weather is nice I'm still biking to work. Hope I'll get some fun updates soon! |
