0 oil pressure on startup --> led to engine noise

I have a 2012 SS 6MT with 115k miles. On startup today my car told me I was low on oil and my oil pressure gauge said I have 0 psi. I checked the oil with a dipstick, which had a normal amount of oil. Checked under the car, no signs of leakage.

I did change the oil a week before today so I thought this was weird. Like a dumbass when changing the oil, I bought the wrong size oil filter and decided to just put the old one back on considering I change oil every 4000 miles. I've only driven around 300 miles with the new oil and old oil filter. The oil filter has probably only gone through 4000~ miles before the oil change.

After checking the dipstick and under the car, I decided I could at least drive myself home since it had oil. Boy was I wrong, I drove for about 30 seconds before I could hear the engine slowly start getting louder and louder. This means that as I was driving, the oil stopped circulating. Could this be a clogged valve or a bad oil pump? No way a filter that has only gone through roughly 4500 miles could do this right? Checked with OBD2 and no codes as of right now.
Its a K&N oil filter for those who are interested.

These cars were prone to oil pump failure. That would be my guess.

The oil filter was not your problem, Most likely an oil pump issues, when your car is telling you that you have no pressure, always confirm with a Mechanical gauge before running it , A lot of times it is just a bad sensor but sometimes it is not which sounds like your case. Hopefully it is just the top end which is usually the first to go when starved for oil. you will know better once it starts getting tore down.

Time for a new oil pump, don't start it again!

This is hopefully good news to me then. I would much rather replace/upgrade the valvetrain. Imma start disassembling tomorrow.

I would definitely check the bottom end but good chance it'll be fine.
