Yes, but the point I’m trying to make is that if they could fit a manual in the Camaro even though it has a way LOWER take rate than the auto, they probably would have sold more C8’s if they fitted a manual. The data shows a quarter of corvette buyers wanted a manual. Aside from the z06, the C8 is the first corvette that came out in my lifetime that I don’t want (and maybe the C4 haha).

That’s a valid point. I’ve never honestly felt like the C8 was a true Vette. The performance is insane and I give the car all the credit that is due but to me it just doesn’t feel like a Vette. Corvette to me was always (at least for the last 20 or so years) about taking a front engine car and kicking other far more expensive front and mid engine cars asses with it at the track. Now it’s just kind of not as intriguing to me. Not knocking the car or the amazing tech in it but it’s just not for me. C7 is my all time favorite and I doubt that will ever change.

The C8 drew new buyers to the Corvette.

I would be happy with a Z51 495hp

Former GM Engineer and Green Hell stalwart Jim Mero figures the ZR1X will lap the Ring in 6:23 or so if the conditions are right.

Seeing some used Stingray coupes in the 60s with light mileage. They're getting there.

Seen a couple in the 80k Canadian range.

The maintenance will kill you though I think that DCT needs a fluid change every 8k

So where does the Corvette go from here?

A couple things surprised me. They released the ZR1X not that long after ZR1 and I was thinking they would give more time between the two. Allow sales of the ZR1 to get rolling and then have something new for 2026. Also gm didn't call it Zora and instead just put an X on the end, which apparently doesn't mean AWD or Extreme. James explained Zora was the project name but I keep thinking a halo product of this magnitude should have a name and not just a letter. Oh well and it's great they build it regardless of name.

But what is next for Corvette? The bar has been set high and I'm wondering if the C8 generation will end up representing extreme performance. Or do they continue to push and one day we're looking at a 2000hp Corvette.

I think this is a send off for the Corvette as we know it, to be replaced by a C9 BEV.

Even gm is smart enough to know that nobody will buy a BEV Corvette.

Instead of speculating on future product why don't we just enjoy the marvelous machines they are building for us now.

Too bad the C8 design in this dress looks like a cross between a Praying Mantis and a Stinkbug.
