TPMS

I just picked up my 2013 Camaro RS from the dealer. On my way home I get message TPMS required maintenance came up on the info screen. The dealer had a garage put on 4 brand new tires and the rims were cleaned up by another garage.
Do the sensors now need to be calibrated or replaced? The tires are all inflated to the proper pressure.
What can I do? Any suggestions?

Yes - There’s a re-learn process explained in your owners manual. Or you can google it.

You need the tool do it. On very early 2010 MY cars there is a process that didn't require the tool but the process was changed to require the tool half way through the 2010 MY.

LKas60, you can try to have a shop relearn the sensors but if you are getting that message then most likely the batteries in the sensors are dying. The batteries only last about 10-12 years so if they are the factory sensors, it's about time for them be to replaced.

Yep two of my original sensors have died this year… they went 16 years. It still has the original date coded tires from 09 on it so I know the sensors are original.

The relearn is a pain as you have to let air out of each of the tires in the correct order within a certain amount of time. The tool to link them is pretty cheap. Or, if you just picked it up, take it back to them and tell them to do it. If they have any kind of customer service, they will do it for free. If not, blast them on the survey. That gets the attention.

Maybe it is a pain, but it works on most 2010's, at least it does on both of my 2010's. I took my T/A Conversion to a local shop (Budget Tire) to have the LF sensor replaced as it was damaged by Belle Tire during initial installation of the Tires to the Wheels. (1st Pic) Which I did not know until I got them installed on the car and got a TPWS idiot light warning. That and also the Valve Stem which was leaking and hanging on by a few threads. THis was by some hack at Bell Tire with the "best" Tire Mounting Equipment out there (Touchless). Most local T/W shops would not even attempt to mount the Tires on these Custom Wheels. I was not going back to Belle Tire to repair their F/Up, as they were a hour away (most T/W Shops don't have the $$$ Touchless Equipment and training on how to operate it).

So Budget Tire first tried their "Learning Tool" multiple times after replacing the Sensor and Valve Stem- and that would not work. Then they tried the air release process, and that DID work thankfully. Key is to let the air out slowly, and it may take a good while before the horn beeps acknowledgement, like from 35 PSI down to low 20's PSI.

It only works on early 2010's. I forgot the build date but it was around 6 months after production began that GM took that ability away. 2010's begun production earlier in the year than the other model years so it had longer than a 12 month production run. This means less than half of the 2010's can relearn the sensors via this method.

I can do the factory relearn on my 2011, but bought a tool because it is much easier.

My 2011 would also do it without a tool, just read the manual and went through the steps
